If you’re looking for reasons why the service level of broadband in Malaysia is screwed up and will continue to screw up for many years to come, you don’t have to dig deep into your head to find out why.
Let me give you 2 simple reasons.
#1 – Minister of Information, Communication and Culture Rais Yatim is an internet fool.
In case if you’re wondering of his most remarkable breakthrough in his role as the “Internet” minister, he is the guy who proposed the establishment of “Green Dam”, by following the China’s style of censorship, in which the plan was scrapped after some late intervention from the PM Najib Tun Razak.
#2 – If the head is an internet fool, the same goes to the deputy Heng Seai Kie.
In her reply to the PJU MP Tony Pua on issues relating to broadband during the Parliament sitting, she claimed broadband is “something new to Malaysia“.
Excuse me, something new to Malaysia?
How do you call that new when we’ve Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) launched by former PM Tun Mahathir more than a decade ago?
Would you call a 8-year-old car as “something new to you”?
Now, you know why.
No offence, but this is as good as placing a few donkeys to play a soccer match alongside the likes of Christiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho or Robinho.
