Despite the open support for the Minister in the PM’s Department Koh Tsu Koon by the PM Najib Tun Razak, BN backbencher from the Seri Garding parliamentary Mohamad Aziz not only refused to apologize, he upped the stake a level up.
“I won’t take back what I said, I did not (say) anything wrong (in) my statement. [...] I sympathise with my friend from Batu Kawan (former MP Huan Cheng Guan), who was a good MP but his seat was taken by the (Gerakan) president (Koh) who contested (in the last general elections), but he lost the whole state. And still wants to take care of KPI?”, he said.
A few days ago, during a press conference held by Tsu Koon right after the National Delegate Conference (NDC), the president himself remarked that it’s the first time in history where there is zero (0) question asked from some 20 journalists.
In that sense, it’s only a matter of time when Gerakan, dubbed as the conscience of BN will be thrown out soon if the leadership crisis continues to stay.
Tsu Koon and the party grassroots must understand the party is there and will continue be there, or rather, relevant only if the people continue to throw support behind the party, however, if DAP continues to do well and Gerakan continues to make unsuccessful coup in Penang, with the current leadership which is far from convincing, I’d think it’s fair to say that’s about it for the Gerakan future as a whole.
For now, if what’s taking place so far can be a good indicator for the party, you’re not wrong to count the party out and irrelevant.
