It’s expected that PAS will lose the daunting battle against the BN’s Isa Samad, who is highly popular among the local.
While I’m not going to question why Isa won the by-election with a landslide majority despite of his corrupted background, I personally believe the defeat for PAS is a good lesson for the PR coalition and shows that there are a lot more to do to gain the rakyat support.
It’s time to start the post-mortem by analyzing how, why and what has gone wrong and more importantly, no one can take previous victories for granted.
It’s time to convince the people that PR coalition is not a “marriage of convenience” and that it’s working as a single powerful force anytime anywhere, and not only when there is a by-election.
It’s time for PR to monitor loose cannons within the respective component parties closely and not for them to hijack the common agenda intentionally or unintentionally and in case of any diverse voice heard which might jeopardize the PR leadership, swift action must be taken to curb any confusion among the public and that can only be achieve if proper due process is being put in place.
You know, the likes of Hassan Ali, Zulkifli Nordin, etc, just to name a few and the biggest problem is that, these leaders are asking to be sacked and at the same time, they can’t be sacked or else, they’ll become the hero as what they wish for, hence the right thing to do is to impose gag order on them and in the next election, get them out of radar completely.
All in all, despite the defeat, PR must take the result in stride. We might have lost the battle for now, but at least, we come clean on this and there are bigger battles ahead.
Remember, the record now stands at 7-1.
It’s 7 for PR, 1 for BN and listen to what the veteran has to say.
