I was there last night, among the few hundreds who attended the forum "From May 13 to 1Malaysia: The Future of Nation Building" organized by the office of the Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lau Weng San.
The takeaway lesson?
It’s apparent that people now start to see beyond the skin color, if not completely. There was a fair mix of audience there, be it Malay, Chinese, Indian and etc.
Besides the speech by former Court Of Appeal Judge NH Chan who appeared to be very academical and not in sync with the audience expectation, every panel speaker was given equally loud applause, especially whenever the end of race-based party in Malaysia was highlighted as one of the aspiration for a new Malaysia.
Forget about the Malaysia’s version of 3-in-1 in the name of Zambry Abdul Kadir, we must not feeling dampened by the temporary setback in Perak and the fight must go on.
Interestingly, Anwar Ibrahim’s question last night was answered by PM Najib Tun Razak.
"Barisan Nasional does not fear fresh elections in Perak and will face the people when time comes but decision on election is up to Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah," Najib said.
Since Najib has no objection and BN is no longer fear of fresh elections, does that mean he has now agreed that the State Assembly should be dissolved to resolve the current impasse?
Smart, he kicks the ball back to the Palace and the ball is now in Sultan Azlan Shah’s court to make a final decision.
Let’s see how’s the Sultan Perak is going to react with this latest declaration from Najib if the Sultan is going to return the power back to the people to decide who should be their master or the longer it drags, the longer it’s going to create disadvantage for BN.
BN knows it. PR knows it. The Sultan definitely knows that too.
Hence, I’d like to urge the Sultan to listen to his subjects and calls for the State Assembly to be dissolved.
Let’s keep a close watch on this.

Yes, let’s see how the sultan would react. Besides, the people are getting more and more curious over the dissapearance of the sultan when Nizar seeks to ask for the dissolution of the Perak assembly..but only to appear immediately upon the death of his brother. Some says he’s hiding from Nizar so that he couldn’t deliver anything to the favour of the rakyat.
I wish the sultan can clear the air and offers remedy to the situation by giving the right to the subject, the rakyat of Perak…daulat Tuanku!
Najib finally understood he screwed up big time and is now passing the buck back to the palace. He’s washing his hands so he won’t get blamed if BN lose big time in Perak.
On another note, check out what our dear Tun said in Malaysiakini: First, the 83-year-old former BN chieftain said there was no need to hold a fresh election in Perak in order to resolve the political impasse in the state. But he quickly added that it was a ‘forgone conclusion’ that Pakatan Rakyat would win if an election is held.
If the rakyat indeed chooses PR, which means PR is indeed the legitimate government, is it even more important that this election be held. After weeks of talking about respecting the rakyat’s decision, its good Mahathir admit that it is narrow self interest that BN is pursuing. Way to go Mahathir, like Dr Nasir said, your coming back to BN gives PR more bullets to shoot.
