Dear PM, merely “unhappy” is not good enough …

To be frank, I was quite intrigued by the headline on The Star online when I read the title "PM unhappy with City rail services" this morning.

The Star reported that the PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi took rides on the commuter and Kelana Jaya rail line from Serdang to the city centre Thursday to get a feel of the transportation problems faced by the people.

Doesn’t matter whether it’s a public stunt from his part to enhance his already diminished public perception, I’d like to  give him the benefit of doubt and applause him for putting in effort in trying to get a feel of our public transportation system,

At least, he tries.

I always believe that in order for the Government and the policymakers to understand the real public frustration towards the Government as far as the uncoordinated public transportation system is concern, nothing beats self-experience. It’s then when those who are responsible to draft a comprehensive and well-thought plan, if they’re serious in carrying out a reform and elevates the much needed service provided, they should personally experience it like what Pak Lah had done.

Nowadays, with the sharp hike in the petrol price, a lot of wage earners have no choice but to turn to public transport in order to lower their daily expenses in view of rising living cost, especially when hypocrite like the DPM Najib Tun Razak reminding us to change our lifestyle whereas they themselves were chauffeured with the police clearing the traffic for their convenience?

The fact is, Pak Lah’s "unhappy" experience is merely the tip-of-iceberg as the situation faced by the public is a daily occasion and certainly, if Pak Lah’s one-and-the-only-one experience is an "unhappy" outing, what’s more when it’s a repetitive routine for the public out there? Bad, real bad.

Anyway, as good as it might sound with the PM being seen on the camera taking a ride on the train, that’s certainly not good enough in making lip services, blank promises and what not. We, the job public are tired of the usual antics from the politicians and yet, in the end of the day, nothing is being done while the people continue to suffer.

What we hope from the Government is a well-planned and integrated public transportation system, a good alternative for us to choose from rather than being forced to pay for the RM2.70/liter of petrol and being ripped off by the toll operators, like it or not, but the real question is, do we have a choice? No!

We don’t have to look far in searching for a better public transportation system as our neighbor in down-south has set a very good example for us to learn from.

But hang on, before that, what about the RM2bil subsidy saved purportedly meant to enhance the public transportation system?

Here’s my middle finger.

    at least he tries.

people always complaint that Pak Lah isn’t working.but when he "show" that he’s working, people gonna claim that it’s just another eye-candy.another cover up.

we must remember not many politicians are willing to sacrifise their time to feel of what we ordinary people going through day by day.every next stepsstart from a smaller step.Yesterday was a visit by the PM then perhaps in the future the people gonna experience more and more better and efficient public transportation.

    Include my middle finger…
He should have taken that train ride 4 years ago after he visited the passport office.  I’d have said, "Bravo!".  But now I have only one finger for him.

    onlyhuman,

    At least he tries? Hehe

That’s always been the case for whatever happened in Malaysia, "at least we tried/tries".

So, after so many years, we are still trying. Is our country any better than 10 years ago? In my personal experience, no.

Our country is so messed up now which I think, trying is no longer good enough. He’s the PM, he must make things happen, he don’t try things. Want to try things? Please step down and let others with better credibility to PERFORM.

You don’t appoint someone as a CEO of a big corporation to just TRY, and Phak Lah’s role is more crucial than that.

    SK,

I thought the sum was amounted to 4.4 billion or something from the earlier fuel hike?

It might merely not enough, but eventually he initiates this action. Perhaps later he would done it more deeply. But I could say that’s a good kick-start by AAB.

  • Why must things only improve when the PM shows up and do a spot check?
Remember Immigration department 4 years ago?

    "But, at least he tries"
     - thats the quote of the year man..

All i can say is that could his last antics as PM…

Hit the road, Jack.. we want you no more no more no more no more….hit the road jack, we want you no more….

I’m giving him both my middle fingers.

Had to go to the US embassy on Wed two days ago.  Appointment at 8.50 am.  Parked my car at Kelana Jaya and took the LRT.  Train stopped at Taman Paramount (only 2 stops away) for 15 minutes, with us commuters sandwiched inside the train.  LRT staff came after that and asked us to get off the train because the train BROKE DOWN!  Took me 30 minutes to catch a cab, and made it just in time for my visa application interview.  On top of the LRT shit, I had to fork out RM50 from my own pocket as extra "incentive" for the taxi driver because he refuses to drive to KL.  On my way back after my interview at around 11 am on the LRT, the train that has broken down is still sitting at Taman Paramount.

At least he tried?  Try being in my shoes and see if you will say the same.  Try being stressed out early in the morning for fear of losing the RM450 interview registration fee.  And why is it necessary to fork out "incentive" for taxis to take me to town?  This is precisely the malaise that Lim Guan Eng has continuously stressed in his debate against Koh Tsu Koon.  Why is the party responsible for this crap not accountable for his/her action?  I want heads to roll, I want those who made the mistake of choosing a unmanned LRT system fired!  Anything less will be just hot air.

  • Shouldn’t the CEO of Putra LRT be taking the ride instead?

Our PM has got MORE important priorities to attend to (no middle fingers from me, just a sinister grin)

No wonder our country is in a mess…

Imagine those that travel everyday Jin hou, i was on the LRT on wednesday too. stucked for 2 hrs at the LRT station. I don’t know why they can’t even do simple publice transport well in KL when in singapore the train travel the whole island efficiently.
