New Malaysians, Old mentality

I’m extremely upset with the remark from the Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, in which the PM advised against holding any forum that touches on sensitive matters like religion and race in the future.
"I hope such an incident won’t be repeated. Last Saturday’s forum is proof that issues relating to religion and race are sensitive in the country. Thus, it’s important for us to control and restrain ourselves from discussing such matters, which can lead to the situation which occurred last Saturday." […]"It’s better not to hold such forums in the future."
What’s wrong with holding a forum and what’s more when the forum was held as a closed-door session?
Why can’t Malaysians think forward even after 50 years of independence?
What’s wrong if certain group of Malaysians are able to hold the forum and discuss the issues in a fair and rational manner whereas the top civilian in the name of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is against the idea?
Why can’t we’ve more liberal thinking when comes to sensitive issues?
What’s wrong with this country, really?
New Malaysians with old mentality?

Maybe it is not the right time for us to do such open forums, since now the the issues relating religion and race are starting to become sensitve. With regards of political influence, some politicians will use these for his advantages. This could jeopardizes the unity of our community in the country.

for some, this may wreck the very foundation of Malaysia. Not all can accept the fact that some of us a open enough to discuss about this.
For me the PM is not trying to curb out freedom, but he’s taking into account all of Malaysians, not just the open-minded ones. Change is hard to be accepted especially during this trying times.
The PM is just trying to do what is best for all i guess.

The issue is not old or new mentality. The issue really is he is wrong. Just wrong. There is a need, an urgent need, to hold the forum. Injustice has been happening and it continue to be carried out. Yes, in terms of dramatic cases, there are not many but there are at least thousands of cases of less dramatic cases. More importantly how it is perceived and that main one is Hindraf. Its a powder keg waiting to happen.
if Badawi think he or any future UMNO leader can keep the powder keg from blowing up by dishing out more stuff over time, he is delusional about his ability to predict the future. Its just high risk managing…
You know things will get worst when the leaders of the group JUST GET THEIR FACTS WRONG. They think they are not interfering in other religion? You think all those people at the forum and mostly very smart and educated ones are just wrong???? Its just ignorance and arrogance…
