Dear Malaysians

Friday, March 7th, 2008 | 1:27 am @ SK

Dear Malaysians,

It doesn’t take one who is political minded to vote.

Voting is the basic right and responsibility of a citizen, got it?

Oh by the way, all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

Best Regards,
SK

Why we continue to do what we are doing if there is a different way out there?

Tomorrow - 8 March 2008, is going to be the D-Day.

The D-Day is neither for the Barisan Nasional nor the Opposition parties, however it’s more about the D-Day for us, the rakyat.

So, before you put a cross on the ballot paper, I’d like to share a story with you.

Every time a monkey went up the ladder, the scientists soaked the rest of the monkeys with cold water.

After a while, every time a monkey went up the ladder, the others beat up the one on the ladder.

After some time, no monkey dare to go up the ladder regardless of the temptation.

Scientists then decided to substitute one of the monkeys.  The 1st thing this new monkey did was to go up the ladder.  Immediately the other monkeys beat him up.

After several beatings, the new member learned not to climb the ladder even though never knew why.

A 2nd monkey was substituted and the same occurred. The 1st monkey participated on the beating for the 2nd monkey. A 3rd monkey was changed and the same was repeated (beating).  The 4th was substituted and the beating was repeated and finally the 5th monkey was replaced.

What was left was a group of 5 monkeys that even though never received a cold shower, continued to beat up any monkey who attempted to climb the ladder.

If it was possible to ask the monkeys why they would beat up all those who attempted to go up the ladder…..
I bet you the answer would be….

“I don’t know – that’s how things are done around here”

Does it sounds familiar?

Why we continue to do what we are doing if there is a different way out there?

Only two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity.

And I am not so sure about the former.

Peanuts in, monkeys out

Less than a week before the GE 2008, Election Commission (EC) scrapped the use of indelible ink on polling day, citing public order and security issues as the concern.

Notwithstanding the fact that after RM2.4 million was spent to purchase 46,000 bottles of indelible ink from India, there is something which is more ridiculous than dumping the money!

When asked whether a proper study was done before introducing the ink, Abdul Rashid said a study was done on how it was used in other countries.

“In the beginning, we thought it was just an ordinary process that we could just introduce but then we realised, after getting all the necessary advice from the legal experts, that we would have to take a look at the (Federal) Constitution,” he said.

He added that the EC had to examine the other laws and regulations first.

He said Article 119 of the Federal Constitution guaranteed the right of a registered elector to vote and laws providing otherwise should be ultra vires the Constitution.

What an idiot!

The decision to use the indelible ink was made in June 2007, which is 8 months before parliament was dissolved.

As the only body which is responsible in ensuring that election matters are going to be held in proper manner, why didn’t the EC seek "legal advice" then?

I’m sure by now, many of us are puzzled as why were they doing making the mandatory requirement of using indelible ink, placing the order for the ink, taking delivery of the ink and then, 8 months later, tell us they were pulling out because of "legal advice".

If you’re so dumb enough not to carry out the least of your role as a respected body, go sack yourself!

Besides, the fact that the BN’s government proposed to extend the retirement age of EC members from 65 to 66, hence led to the extension of Abdul Rashid’s tenure as the EC Chief for another year before this retirement does make BN’s look like a fool too, in which a negative repercussion among the well-informed voters seem inevitable.

Having said all that, in another word, this is basically what you as a voter has to be held accountable too when you can’t even deny them the 2/3 majority, especially the one you sent into the Parliament to vote for the extension!

Screwed, but true enough on how certain little things are done in this country.

Cans of worms

"Vote for BN and you won’t get disappointed," the PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said.

"Vote with clear conscience and not let emotions cloud the judgement when casting votes in Saturday’s polls," MIC president S Samy Vellu said.

Chinese voters have no choice, but to continue supporting BN, failing which their interests will take a beating," the Misinformation Minister Zainuddin Maidin said.

What a collective effort from the party leaders to prevent further swing among voters, unfortunately, voters nowadays are well informed for doing the right thing.

The reality of witnessing a rare but real sunset for the Barang Naik party is fast approaching, when the rakyat is going to make their voices heard in this weekend!

By the way, you can read them on BERNAMA, the Malaysian National News Agency for you.

Tun M: Vote sensitively!

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 | 11:51 pm @ SK

Message from former prime minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad on the eve of the GE 2008.

Vote sensitively. Vote not only with party loyalty concerns but also vote in order to have good people setting up a good government. […]

Well, I believe in an opposition, I have always maintained that this country needs an opposition and they should be critical of the government without which we don’t have a mirror to look at our faces. We think that we are very beautiful but it is the opposition that keeps on telling us (this may not be true).

You know the government member (of parliament) sometimes they are ‘ahli bodek’ (apple polishers) they are always saying ‘you’re right’ and you have no means of assessing whether you are going in the right direction or not. So this country, if it loses its opposition and be like Singapore, then there will be disaster.

While Malaysiakini is determined to provide all Malaysians a fair and credible mainstream media’s alternative, to those non-subscribers, it’s time for you to fully utilize the free gift and read the complete interview with Tun M.

Good thing doesn’t come often.

Are you an anak bangsa Malaysia, or a loser?

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 | 1:08 am @ SK

It’s such a disappointed evening.

I’d like to dedicate this post to 3 characters: A, B and C, and the rest of fellow Malaysians who think and react alike them.

A doesn’t even know his MP, however came to a conclusion that the incumbent MP is good just because the incumbent MP organized a few social events in the place he is now living in.

I know the MP and I know that MP doesn’t have any good track record in the Parliament.

Though you’re still undecided who to vote for, but let me tell you what, I still remember how you complained that corruption is getting rampant nowadays under the Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s administration, a lot worse than during Tun’s time.

I thought the selection is quite apparent.

I thought you’re going to do the right thing in this coming election.

I thought you’re ready to vote for change.

All and all, I never doubt about your level of incisiveness, not even for a single moment.

But ..

Next came the B.

You assured me that you’re going to vote for change.

You sounded like you’re extremely sure of your choice, unlike VK Lingam and gang.

However, the next moment, you’re saying that you’re going to be away before the polling day and only available the next day after the election.

So you expect your "uncast vote" to play into its effective role?

C is the worst among the worst.

You prefer to remain overseas until after the election is over for fear of possible riot in the country?

You’re the biggest loser among all and I urge you not to come back forever because you do not own the least quality of a anak bangsa Malaysia should have.

Now, let’s take a look at what’s NOT about MP(s), since I’m sure by now, you must be amazed by what they’re capable of.

You see, it’s not about the MP(s) (MP stands for Member of Parliament, for god sake!) organizing a few charity events or dancing classes at the place near to where you’re staying now.

It’s not about the MP(s) pointing to the longkang, the potholes, the sampah-sarap with a few media photographers busily shooting away.

It’s not about the MP(s) appearing on the newspaper telling you how good they’re in making tons of empty promises.

It’s not about the MP(s) wasting precious debate time in the Parliament talking about the AirAsia’s uniform, the monthly menstrual cycle but had great difficulty apologizing to our womenfolk for crass and insensitive remarks.

It’s not about the MP(s) sitting like a fool (or some MPs who love to play truant anyway!) when insensitive issues and idiotic remarks are raised in the Parliament as if they’re entrusted by their people to do the same.

Yes, I’m also very much aware that it’s your ultimate democracy rights to vote for who you think is right, however please bear in mind that who you people are going to vote for are going to be the someone who is going to represent you in the Parliament to defense your god damn fundamental rights as enshrined in the Constitution!

Who you people are going to vote for are going to be the someone who is going to represent you in the Parliament to fight for your wellbeing as part of anak bangsa Malaysia!

Who you people are going to vote for are going to be the someone who is going to represent you in the Parliament to ensure that enough is enough!

But you know, you guys (you know who you’re!) are losers.

You expect to enjoy the fruit of democracy by expecting others to fight the change for you with you the losers sitting comfortably in your air-conditioned office?

You expect others to be sacrificed as a martyr while you’re happily chiding their act as yet-another-foolish-Malaysian?

Hence, I come to conclude that if you’re still dreaming away and not ready to vote for change, you truly deserve the Government that you vote for.

I don’t deserve a sleeping government.

It’s you losers, lousy Malaysians (you know who you’re!) that deserve one.

Not we, the anak-anak bangsa Malaysia.

More than a message by YB Wee Choo Keong

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 | 10:43 pm @ SK

Speaking at a forum organised by The Star-Asian Centre for Media Studies, former PKR leader Chandra Muzaffar listed a few examples to show how unreliable PKR de-facto leader Anwar Ibrahim was as a politician, stretching from the days when Anwar was Education Minister.

PKR’s candidate for Wangsa Maju parliamentary constituency Yang Berblog Wee Choo Keong has a few messages for Chandra.

Besides saying that Chandra is just an intellectual fraud, Wee called upon him to re-learn the basic principles of freedom and democracy.

Whatever Chandra has uttered last night at the forum organised by The Star was not unexpected given his past record. And those utterances should be consigned to the foul-smelling garbage bins much like his mouth at the time surely.

Moreover, Chandran’s vile gibberish of last night was also verbiage and an obvious act of sabotage against the people of this country.

We call upon Chandra to carry on being an arm-chair critic in his academic ‘prison’ and to immediately stop insulting the intelligence of the public.

Chandra would also do well to go back to school to re-learn the basic principles of freedom and democracy.

What about a manipulation by the Barang Naik party?

Oh my god!

The Star’s SMS alert at 1:55pm.

3/3 PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi says his 4yrs tenure is not a period of failure but full of success stories and development, wants trend to continue/STAR

Not a failure?

Full of success stories and development?

Utterly disgusting and worse, totally lack of taste!

Hidup Rakyat!

On the night of March 1, Penangites were shaken from their dreams.

More than 10,000 Anak Bangsa Malaysia attending the Penang state-level DAP ceramah at Han Chiang Indoor Stadium.

Needless to say, the stadium is fully pack.

Many have to stand outside the stadium to listen to the future leaders of this country.

They may be drenched by the drain, but not that good enough to drench the spirit in wanting a change.

Gimmick? No.

Propaganda? Hell no.

Thanks to the YouTube, it’s better for you to believe your own eyes rather than reports by the mainstream media (by the way, can you please stop reading newspapers and TVs until after the election?)
