Will Pak Lah survive?

Thursday, March 27th, 2008 | 1:05 pm @ SK

Lately, it’s apparent that the Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi lost a few important battles, ever since the ruling coalition lost the 2/3 majority in the Parliament.

The royal tussle in both Perlis and Terengganu, the homestate for ex-Yang Dipertuan Agong and current Yang Dipertuan Agong respectively, went to the royals.

Pak Lah’s choices of MB in the 2 states were denied outrightly.

No U-turn, no compromise candidate and definitely no "save face" measure.

Before that, two deputy ministers declined their new postings after the Cabinet line-up announcement. Apparently, they’re not happy with Pak Lah’s decision not to promote them to full ministerial rank.

And the latest for today, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Ghapur Salleh resigned eight days after accepting his appointment, citing his resignation as not interested in any government post, hence it remains puzzled on why he accepted the post when the line-up was first announced.

Hence, another slap in the face for Pak Lah.

What about the rumors of defection from the ruling camp to the Opposition camps, with PKR de-facto leader Anwar Ibrahim saying that he is moving towards forming a new Government?

What about the open challenge by veteran Umno politician Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah?

What about the letter from Mukhriz Mahathir that Pak Lah doesn’t want us to read?

It seems that there are too many uncertainties that Pak Lah needs to handle, and at the same time, with the quality of leadership shown thus far, I doubt he will survive the party election this year?

To me, for whatever it takes in order to form a new leadership, my wish is that it would be done appropriately while keeping the democracy legitimate.

Having said all that, anything less than that is not a gracious thing to do.

Pak La is like the little Dutch boy who help save Amsterdam by poking his little finger into a leaking dyke ! Only I think Pak La is too unrealisiic to expect to save his own skin trying to shore up his dwingdling support. When the house of cards start falling there is no way to stop it from collapsing totally.

However I hope that Pak La is able to hold out for a little bit longer until Dato Seri is able to coble together a coalition government of his own. This government is so very imporatnt for the sake of Malaysia and the well being of all races because the Pak la government is so weak that he will not be able to consolidate his support in time to frustrate the efforts of dato Seri Anwar to entice support from BN doubters from crossing the floor of Parliament.

MCA, Gerakan & other parties of the BN must know that Dato Seri Anwar is on the ascendancy and UMNO and Pak La is spiraling into the shit hole ! I say to those in the MCA to cross the floor for the good of all Chinese.

I don’t think Pak Lah could survive until December 2008.The way he did things would show his true leadership of poor quality and if it would be prolong further,UMNO and our country would be in a big mess.UMNO’s house needs to do some cleaning first or else the whole house stink to the core.

No, he will not survive unless a miracle happens. Every move he makes smacks desperation. He is humiliated at every turn and made to eat his own words. He says Idris Jusoh is the only constitutional choice candidate for MB in Terengganu but he is forced to accept the Palace’s choice. He is forced to accept yet another coice of the Palace in Perlis despite having issued his letter of nomination for Shahidan. His Deputy Ministers are resigning, three to date. He does not have the authority to act against UMNO members who openly call for his resignation, splitting the party into two. He is unable to postpone UMNO elections.

All these were previously unheard of. More importantly, he is still making all the wrong decisions, even today. He is still advised by a team of inept spin doctors who are still making use of obsolete models for planning and building his image. It’s a pity, especially when there are much better talents around.

Our PM is a reactive leader, not a proactive one. He has no vision of his own. All his economic corridors don’t inspire confidence.

It is a matter of time. He will go. I suspect sooner than later because his resources to remain in office appear weaker by the day.

Pak Lah is becoming IRRELEVANT in every minutes he sitting and holding power not rightly belonging to him.

Give Pak Lah time to pack his belonging and disappear from the Malaysian land, sailing to Perth in his Cobra Sultan yacht, if not onboard rakyat Airbus.

by early May, everything will settle down - new PM, new Cabinet Members etc.

Three houses gutted, MB’s home saved
    By C.A. ZULKIFLE
KOTA BARU: A pre-dawn blaze on Saturday wiped out three terrace village houses here but quick action by firemen prevented the fire from spreading to the home of Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, located just five doors away.
The blaze began at 4:30am. Nik Zabidah Raja Daud, 31, one of the mentri besar’s nieces, was woken up by her sister-in-law Siti Mariana Abdul Rahamn, 31. She managed to gather her twin daughters and flee the house with her husband.
It is believed the fire started in Siti Mariana’s room and spread to the two adjoining village houses rapidly.
A neighbour, Wan Nuraini Wan Ismail, 52, who is the Pengkalan Chepa Muslimah deputy president, managed to rescue important documents but couldn’t retrieve her children’s school belongings.
The state fire and rescue department received the distress call at 4.42am and reached the site seven minutes later. The fire was put out by 5.05am with the help of five fire engines and 25 firemen.
Nik Abdul Aziz has not moved in to the official residence of the mentri besar since his appointment in 1990, and still lives in his ancestral attap home in Pulau Melaka, which also houses his family’s religious school.

    Yang Mulia,

I read your address to the conference of judges at the Marriot Hotel, Putra Jaya, and I have to say that if your wish for an independent judiciary is progressed along the path that you had enunciated in your speech, then Malaysia will indeed REGAIN the respect & trust in the Malaysian Judiciary that was the admiration of all of South East Asia.

The present state of the Malaysian Judiciary is the laughing stock of the world and if I might add, the state of the Malaysian Judiciary today can only be rivalled by the standard of Administration of the LAW & JUSTICE THAT EXIST IN INDONESIA. Forgive me for saying so, but there is a state of utter lawlessness prevailing in Malaysia. Judge Dato Zainon binti Mohd. Ali, who now sits on the bench of the Malaysian Court of Appeal, and who as the judge of 1st instance UNLAWFULLY AND ILLEGALLY STRUCK OFF MY WIFE’S ABOVE PETITION, the details of her criminal behaviour is fully documented in my blogg. At http://yapchongyee.blogspot.com. The details are too lengthy to discuss here; however, I can state that I graduated from the University of Singapore in Law in 1967 and I practised at the Malaysian bar from 1967 until I migrated to Australia in 1978.

Either through ignorance of the law relevant to issues raised in my wife’s petition, Judge Dato Zainon binti Mohd. Ali or that she intentionally DISREGARDED the provisions of the law relevant to my wife’s case or even more heinously she acted CORRUPTLY, Judge zainon binti Mohd. Ali committed several criminal offences while adjudicating my wife’s case on the bench. This ridiculous turn of events must be unprecedented in all of history of the British Commonwealth (since we all share the same legal history).

I have written to the Chief Justice of Malaysia and I enclose a copy to this letter. I had written to the Chief Justice several times but I have never ever received ny replies. This is an official compliant so I do not see under what circumstances can the Chief Justice or the Attorney General can refuse to reply.

If Yang Mulia, is serious about what you said at the conference of Judges, then allow me to reiterate that even a JUDGE OF THE HIGHEST COURT OF MALAYSIA MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR COMMITTING CRIMES. Judge Zainon binti Mohd. Ali committed several criminal offences and must be held accountable for them.

As a demonstration of my good faith, IF UPON INVESTIGATION OF THE FACTS THAT I CHARGED JUDGE ZAINON BINTI MOHD. ALI WITH HAVING COMMITTED IS FOUND TO BE TRUE THEN IS IT NOT THE DUTY OF THE A.-G TO PROSECUTE JUDGE ZAINON BINTI MOHD. ALI ? In this event I will be available to defend myself in court. TO PROVE THAT MALYSIA WANTS AN INDEPENDENT JUDICIARY THAT IS ETHICAL, HONEST AND ADMINISTER THE LAW IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAW, The Malaysian Attorney General can do the following, upon police investigation of the facts that I have charged her with :

    (1)   IF POLICE INVESTIGATION INTO MY CHARGES AGAINST JUDGE ZAINON ARE VALID AND THERE IS/ARE REASONABLE CAUSE TO CHARGE JUDGE ZAINON BINTI MOHD. ALI WITH COMMITTING CRIMINAL OFFENCES, THEN I WILL COME TO KL TO BEAR WITNESS,

                                                          OR

(2)If upon police investigation there is no basis for charging judge Zainon binti Mohd. Ali with criminal offences then obviously I have both libelled or more seriously for committing the more serious crime of SEDITION in with case the Malaysian Attorney General is under a duty to apply for my extradition to be charged in a Malaysian Court.

If Yang Mulia is serious about bringing change to the Malaysian Judiciary then this case is the most open demonstration of that resolve.

    Yours Sincerely,
