No wonder there is a say that love is blind.

Double standard

Sunday, February 24th, 2008 | 4:42 pm @ SK

Today is the nomination day, the day which showcases the double standard practiced by the Election Commision (EC).

BN’s Rafidah Aziz missed her signature in the nomination form. PAS’s representatives protested and being snubbed by the Returning Officer.

The result: She is eligible to contest.

BN’s new face Sharon Song Choy Leng won an appeal on her disqualification over technical fault.

The result: She is allowed to participate in a tough fight against DAP’s secretary general Lim Guan Eng.

BN’s candidate missed his signature in the nomination form to contest in Kelantan’s Cempaka state seat against incumbent Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

The result: BN won the appeal and allowed to contest.

DAP’s Selangor state candidate Ng Suee Lim put in incorrect nomination date as polling date.

The result: Nearly disqualified, after initial disqualification as reported by Sin Chew.

Some surprise candidates

Here comes another surprise.

Secretary-General of the Malaysia Democratic Party (MDP) Wee Choo Keong who is expected to participate in a 3-corners contest in Bukit Bintang Parliamentary seat held by DAP, is now going to stand in Wangsa Maju on PKR ticket.

As for the Low Gwo Burne, one of the main witness in the Royal Commission Inquiry (RCI) for the VK Lingam Tape controversy, will contest in Kelana Jaya while Anwar Ibrahim’s daughter Nurul Izzah, dubbed ‘Puteri Reformasi’ (princess of reformasi) will contest in Lembah Pantai, expected to run against the incumbent Sharizat Abul Jalil.

Fong Po Kuan will recontest Batu Gajah seat

Friday, February 22nd, 2008 | 2:29 pm @ SK

The Star’s SMS alert at 2:25pm.

Incumbent Batu Gajah MP Fong Po Kuan has announced she will recontest after all in a surprising turn of events.

In a report by Malaysiakini, Po Kuan apologised to the Batu Gajah voters, supporters and the party for causing them "disappointment and hurt".

"It was definitely a very painful decision (to withdraw). However, I felt very remorseful when I discovered how much a majority of the people cared for me and supported me.

"Indeed, the reflection of their immense support touched me deeply which brought about the thought that I must not fail them," she said.

She also admitted that her abrupt decision to quit was not wise and promised to be at her best in this coming election.

Now, let’s move, time is money!

Malaysia’s bloggers are …

Friday, February 22nd, 2008 | 11:51 am @ SK

Bloggers are either cowards or a bunch of netizens who love to indulge in unhealthy culture of bashing others.

That’s the conclusion that I’ve got on how much do Umno politicians understand about blogging.

Sad but true enough.

Dramatic irony, from a sleeping CEO

It was a few days ago when the bugger lied and now, he is asking you people to trust him and his Government?

What an ironic statement from a sleeping CEO.

One vote BN will not be able to buy

Monday, February 18th, 2008 | 10:48 am @ SK

Last Friday, I asked a friend who is currently residing in Hong Kong whether he is coming back to vote in this coming GE.

His reply:

SK,

Here are the documents. I have removed the address, tel no and booking details, but I have left my name and email address intact. This is one vote BN will not be able to buy.

I think this is apt: "All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

JinHou

Thank you my friend for being a responsible citizen who loves this country, unlike many losers back here who love to find excuses for not doing the least they can.

P/S: This email is published with his consent.

Zaid Ibrahim

Friday, February 15th, 2008 | 12:56 pm @ SK

Not long ago, a casual acquaintance of mine informed me that he was joining one of the component party in the Barisan Nasional coalition.

Dumbfounded, I asked him why.

He said by joining that party, he will have more resources and channels to perform as compared to Opposition parties. I gave him a few typical examples of how certain leaders wanted to change the ruling coalition but being changed instead.

I wish him all the best, not knowing how well he actually performs up to this point.

But today, I’m saddened by another example of a good leader in the like of Zaid Ibrahim, an outspoken lawyer and Member of Parliament for Kota Baru being dropped as a candidate to defend his parliamentary seat in this coming general election.

I respect Zaid as someone whom I’d rate as the "conscience of Umno" and trust that he is a victim of being an sincere politician who speaks the truth without fear and favor.

He is also being "infamous" within the Umno faction for proposing that the Barisan Nasional coalition component parties merge and form a a multiracial political party which represents all Malaysians minus the usual communalism, which is the way forward for this country - a Bangsa Malaysia society.

I say, Zaid Ibrahim should contest in Klang Valley and he will still win handsomely even if he is running as an independent candidate, doesn’t matter the fact that Kota Baru voters has just lost a good MP.

Just some thoughts

Thursday, February 14th, 2008 | 10:40 pm @ SK

It’s Valentine Day.

There is this one wonderful guy proposing to his girlfriend on a billboard at the LDP.

Big, damn big.

Expensive? I’m sure.

Unprecedented? Yes I think so.

Creative? Yes, very.

So I’m thinking, if that "wonderful Malaysian" is willing to help woo eligible voters to cast their votes this coming March 8 or even channel the fund to help campaign for a better Malaysia …
