Oppss, Al-Jazeera’s propaganda?

Now, IGP Musa Hassan joins the fray too.

He criticised Al-Jazeera for potraying police as having used force to quell the rally organized by Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (BERSIH).

"Its (Al Jazeera’s) claim was not right. Suhakam was there and saw that police did not use force and had acted professionally. It was merely a propaganda (by Al Jazeera) to give the country a bad name," he said.

However, if you’re to watch this 2:33 minutes video, if the use of tear gas and water cannons are not considered as a use of force .. ?

Do they really think that we the rakyat are all stupid and blind? Who dared to be rough against the police force with their weapons? The footage from Al-Jazeera was clear enough to proof the use of force against rally participants.

I say, let them response more. The more they try to spin the entire scenario, the deeper they sink. Thanks to the advancement of technology and the power of internet, now the rakyat has the opportunity to differentiate between the truth and propaganda.

The arguement is that the video is not authentic, they need to set up a panel to verify first.

The gomen has gone beserk and does not know right from wrong anymore.

So people of Malaysia, do you still want a gomen run by these insane mp and daun?

Again, i really suprised with most of our state of mind when looking at the footage. Why? Because most of us are more than interested on what is shown. Did we ever ask why is this happening? What triggered this unnecessary things to happen? And why did the TV station keep on repeating the same footage? Pushing for more high viewing rate kok….or maybe thats the 1 and only 1 footage…hehe

I am in full support of police force to use the tear gas and water cannon to disperse the illegal gathering.

  • SK,

Thanks for dropping by. That’s what Wee was telling me right in my face when we met with him and Rocky dropping by at Bangsar.

  • [...] No excessive force was used to disperse the gathering (use of tear gas and water cannons?!) [...]

    Dear Ronchester,

From the footage it is vety obvious that the police acted without provocation. It was a peaceful gathering. No stones ot bottles were thrown at the police. The crowd was not even unruly. The police fired tear gas and water cannon without provocation in the name of dispersing the crowd and they call it standard procedure.

    Dear enhaw82,

So should the police wait until stones or bottles to be thrown, cars/flags to be burnt and innocent people to get injured then only act against the illegal gathering?

If firing tear gas and water cannon should not be the standard procedure for the police force (even though being asked to disperse and gathering was not authorised to be held), i think rakyat would be really interested to hear your suggestion on how to disperse the crowd.

Should we act only after being provoked? If thats the case, the law for any attempt of criminal/murder should not be in placed. The police should not act against the robber-to-be and rapist-to-be because they have not commit any attempts.

I thought our society have being taught a lot about "preventive measure".

I saw the footage and the comments. But can somebody clear my mind whether it’s a demonstration or gathering? erm…I mean like since when demonstration becomes gathering. Some kind of old school friends gathering on the road kut..Anyway, if it’s demonstration, it’s certainly a threat to the peace to the rakyat and the country.

We’re the people in a peaceful country. If we go ballistic, imagine the chain reaction which causes nothing than chaos. Nothing can be more important than the rights of the rakyat to stay in a peaceful country.
