I love Malaysia because …
Friday, August 24th, 2007 | 12:13 am @ SK
For the past few days, I’ve received numerous replies from the Bangsa Malaysia Hari Merdeka Get-together participants.
In the questionaaires, participants are required to fill in I love Malaysia because ….. and there is one reply that I’d like to share.
I was born on this land…."Tanah Tumpahnya Darah Ku" You can hate the government, because a government can come and go…but you can never and should never hate you country…tempat "Tumpahnya Darah Ku"
People need to know the simple difference between loyalty to the country and loyalty to the government.
We can’t change the country, but we can change the government.

This is my version…
Malaysia is the place where I live and probably the place I choose to die.
In this country, we can go on shorts and T-Shirts to mamak store even at 1pm with no problems. It is not weird or anything. This is the freedom which Malaysian has because there is no specific rules for anything.
This country should focus on three things:
1. Social harmony
2. Education to everyone. If possible, make it free. Come on, we are just taking about 24 million people.
3. Globalized opportunities for all.
I am not keen on 2020.

Many of us really don’t understand what democracy is. They still still practising Feudalism and they don’t believe they can change a government if the government is not doing right. How sad is.

I love Malaysia because she is my HOMELAND!
And I have ideals for my homeland, among which are justice, integrity, equality and a place we can truly belong.
This is the true MERDEKA.

Sad to tell you that, due to economical drives and crave for advancement, all these will be down the drain…
Sometimes I wish Malaysia just slow down in their advancement, so that they will not turn into a society like the West.

I actually agree with KwangErn, I also don’t really wish Malaysia transform into an advance country (so fast).
I prefer Malaysia to be a place where we can always come home and be safe, lost cost and retire peacefully.
