New LCCT

Before that, let me first welcome you to a poor country trying to act "rich", merely due to improper planning.

Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak said today the location and allocations for the projects would be confirmed later.

"We need to expand the existing LCCT despite the building of the new LCCT because the new LCCT will take four years to complete," he told reporters after chairing the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Transportation here.

He said the existing RM108-million terminal, which was opened in March last year, was being operated at its almost full capacity of 10 million passengers a year.

The new LCCT would be connected by rail link as well, he said, adding that the present LCCT would not be wasted because it would be converted to other use once the new LCCT was ready. [Bernama]

For those who are uninitiated, the existing Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) was officially opened in March 2006, which is about 18 months ago and now, DPM is talking about a new LCCT!

Put the construction cost aside, w chich I assumean be easily up to about half a billion ringgit, "other use" is merely a convenient answer by politicians to escape the public wrath.

If "do first, think later" is the usual mentality, the same goes to the cultural "say first, think later".

And I honestly believe that, we can do better, a lot better than that.

The most stupid and selfish thing is that they barred Air Asia from using Subang even though Air Asia lobbied hard for it. But now they allow MAS/Firefly to use it.

Now they banished Air Asia to LCCT, very far away from KLIA instead of letting them use the under-utlized KLIA. It’s the least used airport in the region in terms of capacity!
