Pathetic

This is pathetic.

Instead of putting in extra effort to declare a war against criminal activities, there is a high chance that in the future, petrol stations will close earlier in view of increasing robbery risk.

I understand the move taken by the Petrol Dealers Association of Malaysia (PDAM) is to reduce night operation cost and to protect workers, however on the other hand, it’s very likely the measures taken show that we’re kowtow-ing to robbery and sends a message to you and I that crime activities rule, right here in Malaysia?

Meanwhile, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Shafie Apdal has came out from the dark to reject the idea, but exception will be given to stations in some places with security issues.

I will migrate when the day comes when mamaks are not allowed to open beyond 10pm.

Mamak is the part of the reason why I like this country so damn much.

(If such essentials as petrol kiosks can do so, I don’t see why mamaks can’t!)

  • Do we actually need government’s intervention to decide what time we close our business?? You can to close 5 days a week, then so be it. What the hell is the government doing in this picture?

If all private clinics in the country decides to have operating hours from 8am – 5pm only, without government intervention, I think you will be screaming out loud when you (or your loved ones) fall sick.

If all coffeeshop and mamak operators decides to only operate 8am – 3pm, let’s see how would you take dinner? Or rather squeeze into a single place to have dinner with the others (say McD)?

If RapidKL decides to not to serve routes after 9pm, good luck finding your way home!

Government intervention is essential in certain areas that are critical in terms of economy and social for the impact to our lives are great.

And we are the ones who voted our current government in.

Isn’t this an affirmation of the deteriorating crime situation?

Petrol Kiosk Operators: We have to close after 10.00 pm. It’s dangerous and we don’t feel safe.

Government: No way! We’ll cancel your licence!

    Police: *Quiet as a mouse*

In a fully demand driven market, someone with a business sense will open up a new supply to cater for gap. That is the best way.

The reason we have 24 hours clinics is because some clinics in the early days closed early, so we have some business sounded doctors who see this as a good opportunity to start a new model of business.

The reason we have mamak is because some shops in the early days closed early so there is no place for supper, mamak shops then come in for the rescue.

If RapidKL decides to stop operation after 9pm, we will have some one else to fill in the gap, eventually.

What I am trying to say here is, we are not stupid, we do not need the government what we can do and what we cannot do. Let the market decides. I can bet you that if the market is demanding enough we will have illegal petrol stations sprung up after 10pm.

Its all about demand and supply, for all you know there will be a new form of businees starting after this which delivers petrol to your car at a mobile call after 10PM.

I hope you get what I mean.
