AirAsia: Now Everyone Can “Fry”

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007 | 2:04 am @ SK

According to Jakarta-based blogger Unspun, by saying that low-cost carrier AirAsia sucks is an understatement.

He prefers it this way: AirAsia does not merely suck, it sucks big time.

But why?

What has been happening is that Air Asia has been constantly canceling flights and putting their passengers on other flights. No real reason is given for these moves although they inform you of the rescheduling sometimes two days before the flight is due. That should rule out delays as there is no way they can know two days ahead that the flight is going to be delayed. That leaves two possibilities. First is that Air Asia is not filling the seats in certain fights so they are canceling any flight that is not full enough to make a buck and moving passengers to other flights to fill them up. More of the angkot mentality here.

The second possibility is the one given to me when I complained about th constant rescheduling of flights. Apparently one or two of their planes are in bad shape and need servicing and repairs. hence the change in flight times.

Whatever the reason Air Asia should make it a point to inform its customers of the reasons behind the reschedules. Not to do so is showing contempt, the same type that angkot drivers show to everyone else on the road. […]

[…] I guess I’ll have to get my act together and plan ahead to fly Garuda for the same price, instead of relying on Air Asia. Now Everyone can Fry while waiting for the rescheduled flights.

Now everyone can fry?

BUT.. didn’t Heathrow or some other large airport ban all Garuda’s planes for failing safety standards just a few days ago?

If you’re making a choice between an airline that cancels flights because a plane needs repairs, and an airline at the same price that flies its planes without repairs… the choice is obvious, isn’t it?

Europe country banned the Garuda Airline from flying from their air space. Eventhough no Garuda Airline fly to Europe. Their reason that tha aircraft condition was bad due to poor manitenance.

One things is good with Air Asia, there are not compromise with the safety. If the aircraft is bad, their rather willing to cancel the flight or reschedule. But the bad things is poor commication to the passenger.

    Bukan kerja dgn Air Asia…

Gratz: Dishonest argument by diversion. The issue here is Air Asia not Garuda. More specifically it is about Air Asia’s failure to communicate with its customers if it is experiencing a situation that would inconvenience them. Nobody is arguing that it shouldn’t remair and maintain its planes. A bit of a red herring there.

    Typo error…

Sorry, the last para shall read.. "But the bad things is poor communication to the passanger.."

I hear that AirAsia often delay flight too. Last time When I wanted to fly to China to travel, the flight suddenly cancel. I missed the chance to China, hopefully I will have another chance.
