It’s only recently when Malaysia leadership honestly believe that a few rounds of golf, a few hours of walking down the lane, a few hundred durian party and etc. will solve bilateral issues.
Yes, they really did. That was the time when Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar naively concluded the bilateral relationship as "so superb, so good", hence he proposed a fresh negotiations of a new bridge plus connection to Singapore via their Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) systems.
Shortly afterwards, Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak went to Singapore to assure the Singapore government there will be no flip-flop in the Government’s Iskandar Development Region (IDR) policies.
It was indeed "so superb, so good", at least from it’s outer appearance before the Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew dropped a bombshell on us.
"On one side Pas is trying to topple the prime minister but when Umno leaders, particularly from Johor, are also doing the same, Singaporean investors must seriously ask themselves when this attitude will change and whether they welcome us in IDR."
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant and blogger Aisehman sheds some light on the plot which many of us can’t see.
And really, it’s time like this when I really miss and wish to see Tun Mahathir around to speak on behalf of this country.
