Triple sins

Saturday, June 16th, 2007 | 6:02 pm @ SK

[UPDATED VERSION] Apparently, they (4th Floor kids?) are working round the clock and gotcha, here comes the latest resolution, trying to shut us up!

The task force would also determine what sort of action was feasible, without contravening the Bill of Guarantees.

The websites to be monitored are those which contain pornographic material and those, including blogs, which carry seditious material.

"These include blogs which post inflammatory content against other races or religions and not just blogs on politics or those which criticise the government," a source said.

If I read the source correctly, as a political blogger, it’s already a sin by itself.

Plus, if you’re a blog who criticize the almighty Government, it’s another sin by itself.

Double sins.

Is this the Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s latest style of administration that I voted for in 2004 GE? Again, another sinful act.

Unfortunately, this blogger have just committed triple sins, be it consciously or unconsciously.

Meanwhile, Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA) has joined Centre for Independent Journaism (CIJ) in calling for a parliamentary select committee on communication rights, which will include diverse groups to study issues of freedom of speech on the Internet and the mass media.

An unpublished letter

Saturday, June 16th, 2007 | 12:35 pm @ SK

Nearly a year after Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s confession which broke the myth, Rocky published an unpublished letter to NST written by Tun Mahathir’s aide Sufi Yusoff.

"This is a country of rumours. This is a country that has a large share of people ready to believe in anything, and this is a country where there is a larger proportion than norm of people who take delight in spreading vile rumours and slander ."

Kalimullah Masheerul Hassan in his Sunday Column: Rumour and the Ugly Malaysian.

Vision 2057, by Pak Lah

Friday, June 15th, 2007 | 4:47 am @ SK

[UPDATED VERSION] November 2006, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi unveiled South Johor Economic Region (SJER).

The price tag? RM382 billion.

"Let me stress that this is my idea. It did not come from anyone else. It is my own vision and plan to create this super corridor in south Johor to make it the nation’s premier growth centre," Abdullah said.

Fair enough. Your idea, your vision, OK?

But how about Multimedia Super Corridor, you may ask? What, you mean MSC by Tun Mahathir? Who cares? Not my idea anyway.

Now in June 2007, in his address at the Kuala Lumpur Business Club Dinner, PM Abdullah talks about Vision 2057, his version of "Cemerlang, Gemilang, Terbilang".

If Vision 2020 identified nine challenges that are about creating a united, democratic, ethical, tolerant, scientific and prosperous society, 2057 must be about the road to excellence, he stressed.

If 2020 is about the foundation of a developed nation, 2057 is about what it takes "to distinguish ourselves" in all fields. […]

"This is what I mean by Terbilang; 100 years of independence, 100 years of advancement," he said.

The fact is, Vision 2020 by Tun M is still 13 years apart, why not putting more focus in overcoming the nine challenges in order to achieve the Vision 2020 instead of talking about 100 years of independence, 100 years of advancement?

I know you’re trying so hard to impress Malaysians with your "own version" of vision and idea, but ain’t that too early, Mr. Prime Minister?

Meanwhile, blogger Aisehman is kind enough to help differentiate between dream and vision.

For starters, to have vision, you need to keep your eyes open and stay awake, not nod off.

What about Dream 2057 now?

Aisehman joins UMNO

Friday, June 15th, 2007 | 2:38 am @ SK

But why?

  • Jobless SIL Khairy Jamaluddin has three cars with number plats KJ10Q, WNA13 and WMT8001 respectively, which according to him, the number plats itself also cost more than his car.
  • KJ is able to pay off RM5000 worth of traffic summonses just like that even though he is jobless.
  • He dreams of car plates numbers like WTF4 and FU2.

It’s not easy to grab hold of Aisehman, but for the SIL to convince him to join UMNO (just like that) merely show how a jobless SIL can be inspiration at times.

Screwed … (3): A pool of water in SMART tunnel

Thursday, June 14th, 2007 | 2:23 pm @ SK

From flash flood (not once, but twice) to a pool of water in SMART tunnel (Yes, in S-M-A-R-T tunnel).

It’s Monsoon season now, flood once in a while is being considered as disaster. Beyond human control.

The SMART tunnel is not fully functional yet. Beyond human control.

Rivers are not deepen yet. It’s even beyond human control.

You’re merely paying RM2, what you expect, really? Insurance coverage?

The reality is, consider yourself unlucky if you’re drowned in there while Works Minister S Samy Vellu just can’t be bothered.

Between a blog commenter and a monkey … (2)

Thursday, June 14th, 2007 | 1:01 pm @ SK

This has gone awry, one of the repercussion that I fear the most hast just kicked in.

My favorite blogger bro Syed Azidi Syed Abdul Aziz a.k.a Sheih resigned as All-Blogs (AB) Pro Term Committee, citing that his relationship with blog commenter Monsterball has caused so much tension that might disrupt the unity that he dreamed within the blogosphere as the primary factor.

Then after things have gone out of proportions, we, the young and capable go and search for all the personal information and published it on the net. So, the whole world can read how my father owned his credit card companies without even can service the interest for twenty years. So the whole world can see that how much money we the family members owed the private hospitals because we wanted all of us to feel comfortable in the hospital etc etc.

Is this what we as bloggers are fighting for. Well, maybe the answer will come to BigDog, Simon, A Voice, Shar and me when we are in our seventies.

Till then, I would rather feel more comfortable to walk with my beloved Bro Rocky and Bro Jeff while waiting to walk with SS GOH to court when the Finance Company starts suing him courtesy of us.

As much as I do not agree with his resignation from AB, I respect the decision, a tough one, I reckon. It’s OK to take a rest, but please come back.

Meanwhile, as I read through the book The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin S. Sharma, there is a quote that I’d like to share.

There are no mistakes in life, only lessons. There is no such thing as a negative experience, only opportunities to grow, learn and advance along the road of selfmastery. From struggle comes strength. Even pain can be a wonderful teacher.

Nasi sudah menjadi bubur. There is no way to restart the old chapter. There are no mistakes in life, only lessons while I’m hoping my bro Sheih exile stint is not going to be long.

Mage(P’s Lab): Revealed and unrevealed

Between a blog commenter and a monkey

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007 | 3:49 am @ SK

I don’t know who is Monsterball and the same goes around, Monsterball doesn’t know this blogger too.

I guess he has never know the existence of this little space of mine, let alone leaving any comment in this blog, for that, I’m quite thankful that this blog remains invisible to him.

As far as I’m concern about this blog reader a.k.a heavy commenter, he has posted tonnes of malicious comments on a few famous blogs. I’d say, he’s a human of a vicious character and disgusting characteristics of human nature too.

So as I understand he does it knowingly, I skip every single thought of him, not a glance. Period.

However, I strongly believe that, to condemn and the act of akin to "cyberspace gang-bang" this commenter, not even a blogger, is really uncalled for. He might be a pain in the ass to 99.99% of bloggers or blog readers, however for us to return "his favor" in such manner just show that we’re stooping as low as, or probably lower than him!

To quote and unquote blogger mob1900’s:

I do agree Monty has been ‘vicious’ or not align with the ‘majority’ but having a bashing dedicated to him are sinking everyone to his low!

And for ‘SimonWee’ to get personal and reveal Monty’s ‘personal details’ is a new LOW!

To everyone here, I might appear as a ‘Sympathiser’ but c’mon this is cyberspace, we ‘Embrace & Engage’, we can speak our mind and let everyone else speak theirs, let’s not ‘burn the witches at stakes’!

You will never know this ‘inquisition’ will be burning us in return!

We ourselves will ’step over the line’ and we need our fellow bloggers to hold/support us when we do. Check and balances. Imagine if everyone agrees with each other, there will be no more work for ZAM. Poor ZAM will be the only ‘Unemployed’ blogger in town!

We’re smart and civilized enough to differentiate between truth and lies, at least that’s what we’re being taught of while we’re young, if I can remember the least.

Coincidentally, I chanced upon a well-written piece by Raja Petra Kamaruddin, posted in a comment by blogger Big Dog.

And until you learn the difference between rights and privileges you do not deserve that privilege of freedom of expression. Until you show that you are not a monkey that does not appreciate the beauty of flowers then you do not deserve that privilege of freedom of expression.

Well said.

If the monkey doesn’t appreciate the beauty of flowers (blogosphere), then why fight with the monkey that doesn’t deserve that tiny privilege of freedom of expression in first place?

Food for thought: Ignore the monkey.

Period.

When the wood moves …

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007 | 1:33 am @ SK

If the flash flood in KL was a disaster, I can safely conclude that this is the by-product of aftermath.

When public clamor falls on deaf ears, surprisingly it’s the almighty disaster that moves the wood.

For that, ironically, we need to appreciate the unforeseen. Even though they might not learn, at least they move, they really move.

6 months into Visit Malaysia Year 2007

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007 | 12:54 am @ SK

Honestly, I feel like want to puke when flash flood, not-so-SMART tunnel, toll announcement and Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi calling for all flood aviation projects to be completed as soon as possible took place in two days.

"Why RM2? It’s because the developer has spent RM640 million to build a four-kilometre road inside the tunnel. The surcharge imposed for similar facilities in other countries like Hong Kong is much higher," Works Minister S Samy Vellu said.

Hehehehehe, how can you blame Samy when the Government is yet to spend billions of ringgit to deepen rivers in the city? Blame the weather, blame the not-fully-functional smart tunnel, blame MIC members or Sungai Siput voters if you can’t afford to blame your blood cheap life.

Before that, this is what you and I, as well as tourists witnessed with naked eyes.

(SOURCE: The Star - Masjid Jamek, the main Putra LRT and STAR LRT inter-change area)

Unfortunately, that’s how Malaysia looks like 6 months into Visit Malaysia Year 2007.

Niamah!!!
