Badminton: BAM, Roslin Hashim and us

Saturday, May 5th, 2007 | 1:29 pm @ SK

[UPDATED VERSION] It’s undeniable that Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) did a mistake for omitting Roslim Hashim from the two major tournaments in Singapore and Indonesia.

So, it’s fair for him to seek monetary compensation from BAM through legal means. Period.

However, to my real surprise, that’s not about it. He wants something which is a lot more than that. Come on, doesn’t Roslin Hashim feel ashamed of himself that he is bold enough to demand for a place in the World Championships, does he?

To put it bluntly, the reason that he is still representing Malaysia at his age together with the quality and performance level he has, that’s because backup shuttlers are not performing up to the mark. I’m sure this case has proven and furthermore exposed a pathetic situation BAM is facing in single player department

Something concrete must be done, in order to eliminate the possibility for any non-performing player to put up such a ridiculous demand in the future. Meanwhile, China is laughing hard on us.

Shame on Roslin. Shame on us.

He some more demand winning prize money for these 2 tournament.

    haha.

On the other hand, surely the BAM must be penalized extra for making such a stupid screw up, besides paying for the RM70K in penalties.

I have no problem with BAM paying Roslin RM300K in punitive damages!

Sounds like a desperate "over-the-hill" plays grabbing at a straw to save himself from sinking.

Exit with dignity, Roslin, while you still have it!

I was laughing my ass off when I read about him demanding RM300k. Very funny for a player who is in a slump.

For a player who won jack shit for his country, I am really amazed he can demand that sum of money from BAM. Okay he do won something for Msia, but nothing major.

BAM sghould make a deal with him- Win the next two tournaments against world class players and  we’ll pay you the money. Otherwise shut up.
