The fact is that, blogosphere does exist in Malaysia to become the "eyes-and-ears" for the authority in concern, providing "free" feedback which if given swift response or immediate attention, indirectly enhance reputation or at least contribute to positive outlook.
Let me give you an example. Early this month, I picked up an entry from Jakarta-based-Malaysia blogger Unspun regarding one of his colleague Nila Tanzil’s bad experience while she was in Malaysia to cover the opening of Floral Festival 2007, through invitation by Malaysia Tourism Board.
Coincidentally, The Star’s Deputy Group EIC and blogger Wong Chun Wai highlighted the case in his weekly column. While he complimented dedication shown by Tourism Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, his deputy Donald Lim and secretary-general Victor Wee for the Visit Malaysia Year 2007 campaign, the last thing that they need is poor execution from low-level officials.
"There are still 10 months before Visit Malaysia 2007 ends and hiccups like this need to be rectified," he said.
He continued by saying that Tourism Ministry must hear from reporters as well as bloggers in which he claimed have became a new but important and powerful alternative media source.
The story doesn’t end there. One of the Malaysia’s most influential blogger Jeff Ooi linked up the story with Unspun and hence created another round of awareness for Tourism Ministry with regarding to its impact towards the Visit Malaysia Year 2007, in case if they’re so unaware of the incident.
Now, the interesting question to ask is, any action has been taken since then? If not, I hope reporters will start asking Tengku Adnan and his fellow assistants some questions as well as remedial measures taken to safeguard the remaining 10 months of VMY 2007 campaign.
Why? Because it’s my wish to see Malaysia flourishes as a tourism destination in the world and it’s really extreme waste for them to miss so much of Malaysia due to plain ignorant, isn’t it?

Bro,
In the first place it should be Visit Malaysia Year every year not just 2007. What happens in 2008? Don’t visit malaysia next year and in 2009? You get my drift.
Also, I think T Adna is being sabotaged. Most of the states are not organisng aything special didn’t you notice? Johor would have done a lot but then came the banjir. Pahang is only doing something major in June!
Fortunately corporations are doing something. The airport is doing the most and eve than many think it can do better. Even press club is chipping in: we are orgaising a VMY media trasure hunt in three weeks.
