Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin said RTM will air an exclusive interview with Malaysia’s first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, which was recorded in 1985, about 5 years before his death.
"It is a story of our nation’s independence. To our younger generation seeking inspiration from our first Prime Minister, this is the programme to watch."
I fondly remember Tunku as Bapa Kemerdekaan (father of independence) since I was young, someone who led the crowed in announcing "Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!" while raising his hands, which have became familiar icons of Malaysian independence.
He had since became the first Prime Minister of Malaysia and stayed in reign for 13 years before he relinquished his post in favour of Tun Abdul Razak after the May 13 riots.
