As global crude oil prices continue to drop, retail petrol prices in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia have been reduced respectively.
Unfortunately, this is not the case in Malaysia. Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak said that the Government will continue to monitor the world price and review the domestic retail selling price. However, he said this is not a guarantee that there would be a downward revision in fuel price.
"Don’t misunderstand. I do not mean we will lower fuel price. It’s up to the Cabinet to decide.
"But we want to look at the market price of oil first. If oil price has stabilised, we want to see the projections in the next one year, only then we can make a decision."
It’s purely a review plus one more year to go, at least.
Got it?
