Lately, Democratic Action Party (DAP) is famous for all the wrong reasons.
On Jan 10, Bahau State Assemblyman Lim Fui Ming quit the party, citing the lack of support as the reason. In another word, he felt being isolated by the party members.
Last Friday, 14 out of 20 DAP Selangor committee members have voted to push out Ong Chee Keng, the chairman of the DAP Selangor state liaison committee and bring in Ean Yong Hian Wah, known to be closely-linked to Lim Guan Eng, which was later denied by Guan Eng as being behind the ouster.
However, the words of Chee Keng, who said that he was marginalised by DAP leaders and that the DAP does not practice democracy is a cause for concern for voters planning to vote for the opposition in the next general election, which is predicted to be the best chance for DAP to wrest more seats, given the unconvincing level of performance shown by the Barisan Nasional’s government.
What’s more, when DAP is considered as an outsider compared to Barisan Alternatif (BA) which consisted of opposition parties, when DAP decided to withdraw in 2001 due to the difference in ideology.
Something wrong? I hope Kit will listen to this because at this moment, Malaysians need more of DAP and other opposition parties to champion for people’s life rather than being seen as party with cracks in its leadership.
Last Friday, I was told to fasten the seatbelt.
The time has come. It’s imminent.
By far, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil is the only minister that really turun padang and performs frequent visit to concern about flood victims at Johor.
Thumbs up to her and we need more action more than minister with remote-control capability!
Yesterday, while she was heading to a flood relief centre in Kampung Bentong Dalam in Kluang, her motorcade of seven cars were trapped by rising floodwater.
Shahrizat called Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan for help. She had earlier gone on an aerial tour of Kota Tinggi by helicopter with Musa.
"I telephoned the IGP three times asking for help. He advised me not to panic and to just stay put while he handled the situation," she said.
Do normal civilians stand an equal chance to seek assistance from IGP Musa Hassan during emergency case? Probably a warrant for nothing down?
A close friend shared a story with me.
There is a dog sitting next door.Every morning when he passes by the house, the dog will howl at him.
One day, he went to the neighbour and asked the owner what’s wrong with the dog?
The owner replied: Oh my dog, he’s actually sitting on nails, but it’s not painful enough to compell him to make a move.
Got it?
I was at the another end of the crowd (near the Karak Highway entrance) with a peer when it started to rain.
We decided to retreat into the car where a few police officers were waiting. I was asked to furnish my driving license, telling me that I wasn’t supposed to park by the road side (trunk road leading to International Islamic University Malaysia).
Fine. One of them wrote down my details on a blank notepad, simultaneously passing message to his colleague to tell me that it’s a non-deductible RM300.
I told him that I’m fine with that while he continued to re-assure me that it’s going to be a non-deductible summon. I replied in the affirmative and that’s when my car plate number was taken.
One of them reminded me to pay in 2 weeks time or be ready to receive a warrant?! Great, I know what you want and yet, I just can’t provide what you want, so sorry.
As of now, void of summon and I’ll pay to the air.
Today, The Star reported that Penangite Lee Chin has made Malaysia proud by becoming the first Malaysian-born to become a city councillor in Toronto, Canada.
He was elected to Toronto City Council in November 2006 and representing about 70,000 residents of Scarborough-Rouge River for a four year term.
Lee is also one of several Chinese Canadians elected to city council in Toronto and one of two Asians elected to council.
Should I say Syabas, Malaysia! or what?
A few days after Malaysia kicked off the Visit Malaysia Year 2007, Southern state of Malaysia Johor is being hit with continuous heavy rain which leads to the second wave of flood.
Up to date, one of the Malaysia’s major daily The Star’s SMS alert reported that the number of flood victims in Johor has more than doubled overnight to 50,172 in 208 relief centres. Areas around the state capital Johor Baru were among the worst hit, with more than 20,000 people evacuated.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi assured that the Government would do all it could to provide flood victims assistance, promised an extra RM500 (USD142.245) aid to each affected family. A foster village programme was launched to assist flood victims too and Malaysians are called upon to contribute generously.
Blogger xpyre was stucked at one of the worst affected area Kota Tinggi before authority cleared one of the exit to allow traffic to pass through. Blogger Linken Lim who was stucked at one of the affected area, doing a round-up on the recurring situation, help publishing request for public donation from another blogger Marina Mahathir.
Mom’s Daily was saddened by the flood and explained why many NGOs and groups likes to promote breastfeeding to ensure the survival of babies even in the worst tragedy like this. Even the usually humourous Rojaks Daily paid tribute to kukujiao.com for his devotion in helping flood victims through real action. Malaysia need more good samaritan like him!
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Red Cresent Society (MCRS) is appealing to general public including private sectors, corporate, organisations for generous contributions towards the Malaysian Red Crescent Relief Fund set up to provide financial and relief assistance to people affected by the recent flood.
All cash contributions are tax-exempted and are to be made payable to:
"Malaysian Red Crescent Society" or Maybank A/C No - 5144 2210 3788 or call Tel: +603 - 4257 8726, Fax: +603 - 4257 3537 (Operations Room) for details.

The good news is, any police stations must accept all police reports made by the public, no matter how trivial they are,
Any officer failing to do so would be dealt with severely, he (IGP Musa Hassan) said. […]
"No matter how petty the case may be, even if it is domestic violence involving a wife getting slapped by her husband or the wife slaps the husband, the policeman on duty must accept the report,"
The bad news is, how and where to lodge a report against errant officer? Any police stations that willing to accept police reports against police or ? What is the next action taken afterwards?
Talk is cheap lah.
