An option or a green light deal? 51% controlling stake? Sure?
This time, Volkswagen is believed to be wanting to buy a controlling stake in Proton’s manufacturing operations, instead of Proton’s holding company.
If the deals go through, the Malaysian company would control sales and distribution, while Volkswagen can access Proton’s assembly lines.
Early 2006, VW snubbed a deal with Proton, quoting that Proton wasn’t willing to give up management control due to the national pride.
If the deal does go through, it would be good for the country, as it would provide Proton new technology and a new direction.

The news says the government is considering it only. Its still not clear a deal can be done because Proton is losing money badly now compared to the time of the ealier offer. The price is less than RM6 compared to about RM10 then..
Will Proton cars get a VW engine in future?
Looks like Volkwagon is trying to start its root in this region. By acquiring Proton manufacturing facilities, Volkwagon will have himself a production plant in this region, just like Toyota and Honda. With that, VW local assembled VW will be more competitively priced.
It will never happen becos proton still wants the management and control. Think about it, if VW is to take 51% control, all those lazy fuc*kers and useless engineers who gave us the famous powe window and central lock will be sacked in no time. Cannot… proton will never let that happen.
Yes, in the name of patriotism, let the unreliable windows be the bane of Proton and let the lazy engineers be!
