Mat Cemerlang: Do-or-Die

[UPDATED VERSION] On August, Putera Umno started the nationwide recruitment on Mat Rempit a.k.a Mat Cemerlang to join Mat Cemerlang’s Club. The objective: To reach out to "national assets" and change society’s negative perception towards Mat Cemerlang.
Yesterday, Federal police traffic chief Senior Asst. Comm (II) Nooryah Md Anvar warned Mat Rempit that their days are numbered.
From now on, we will be going all out to put a stop to them," she said."We find that they are just too reckless and are not bothered about their own safety and that of others as they flout the law." […]
"We have been working towards ending this menace, and have identified their hangouts and gathering points.
"Soon, we will conduct operations around the country and hope to bust them once and for all."
Simultaneously, The Youth and Sports Ministry is trying to woo Mat Rempit to register with the ministry. Ministry’s deputy director-general Madzrib Ibrahim said the ministry could create a database on the Mat Rempit and organise legal races for them.
"Mat Rempit should not worry about registering with us because their personal details will be kept confidential and no action will be taken against them," […]"This is just an exercise to create a mechanism so that healthy activities, that are within the law, can be organised for them." […]
"Youngsters who are involved in illegal races have no clear goals and proper activities. If left unchecked, such activities will spread among other youngsters. We are afraid that it is becoming a trend.
The latest, The Star SMS alert at 12:37pm.
DPM Najib: Cabinet has approved stiffer penalties against those involved in illegal racing, including confiscating motorcycles and suspending license.
Apparently, things seem to become more complicated and run out of control.
Now, tell me, if you’re Mat Rempit a.k.a Mat Cemerlang, which force that you’ll reckon with? Putera Umno? Police? The Youth and Sports Ministry? Or Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak?
On the other hand, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who on Saturday said he still command majority support, holds the President Umno post which is in charge of Putera Umno, the Minister of Home Affairs in charge of Police and as the Prime Minister where The Youth and Sports Ministry as well as DPM Najib report to.

What makes someone a mat rempit? Owning a motocycle? I use motobike to work and sometimes on weekends. I’m young and look like a typical mat rempit but never involved in such activities but I was hauled up few times by traffic police just because I was on wrong place and at wrong time?
Am I a mat rempit????

Seems more like a giant trap to phish these Mati Cemerlangs. Poor sods, if only they have abit of intelligence, they would’ve spoted it miles away. And for the above-said Ministry to come up with such moronic ideas, they’re finding ways to waste Taxpayer’s money. Majulah Bodowi.

Before I begin, how do you define Mat Rempit? Someone who rides a motorcycle? Someone who owns one? No. Generally, the term Mat Rempit refers to illegal racers. I repeat, illegal… racers.
Now comes my next point. I just don’t get it. If they are openly admitting they are Mat Rempit, doesn’t mean that they’re also openly admitting that they race illegally and perform dangerous stunts on public roads, in the middle of night?
What is the significance of the word ‘illegal’, if the person directly involved in an illegal activity does not get caught, and instead still roams freely? Further, some political party is trying to woo them for reasons known to only them.
I say, punish them first.
Those gotong-royong and community service organised by the party, how many of those Mat Rempits actually took part? I bet those hard-core racers who gulp down a whole bottle of tuak before each race aren’t even bothered to listen to anyone.

As if Bolehland is not already the laughing stock of the modern world, this Mat Rampit/Cemerland project is giving the rest of the world more reasons to laugh their heads off. And to think Bodowi just appeared on CNN live.

The Mat Rempits even stoned a police station when two of their members were detained. They must think that they are above the law. If the police don do anything about this, soon they will be the law!

Recently there were reports of violence caused by Mat Rempits, who are really lawless bullies as mobs. Wow, Putera Umno wants to turn them into Mat Cemerlang. Me hope some Putera Umno members or their relatives and loved ones will have a taste of violence carried out Mat Rempits - then they can tell us if they still think of Mat Rempits as Mat Cemerlang!

[…] I’m not sure about you, however I’m quite certain that Putera Umno Chief Abdul Azeez Rahim is in the festive mode, thus he is planning to hand out early good news and encouragement to his fellow brothers Mat Rempit, in which the Cabinet has approved stiffer penalties against those involved in illegal racing, including confiscating motorcycles and suspending license. "Perkara ini perlu dipandang serius kerana selagi tidak ada litar, di manakah anak-anak muda itu mahu menunggang motosikal. Umpama pemain bolasepak, jika tidak ada padang, di mana mereka hendak bermain bola." […] […]
