Berani kerana benar

Former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir has upped the stake, hinting that he will present proof of corruption within government.

(SOURCE: BBC, 9 August 2006)

According to a report by theSun, Tun was quoted as calling on Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) to investigate without fear or favour, alleging that there was political interference.

"There are several other things which I will come out with, one at a time.. evidence of corruption. The Prime Minister says you must give hard evidence.. we are trying to get, maybe we will get some," [...]

"I know that agency had investigated one person, but there was a cover-up. During my time, I thought action was going to be taken, but it was not taken." [...]

"At one time a Cabinet minister during my administration."

On Monday, during a special interview with Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, he demanded anyone who has explanation and proof of any allegation/misdoings to see him, indirectly confessing that he practises open and transpanrent policy.

9. Are you ready to open your door to those with such proofs to come and see you and give information?

A: Write a letter to me, and make a copy to others such as the police, the Anti-Corruption Agency or the related agencies. Show me the proof. I want an explanation on how he knows this happened. If these are lies, they are trying to hina (insult) me and the Government. How can they do that?

Now, the very interesting question is, if convincing evidence emerges, what kind of actions are to be taken? Are we going to expect a thorough and transparent investigation? Are we going to witness action from the authority because we believe so much in berani kerana benar?

Do compile a list of questions that you would like to ask, even as to fulfill your long deprieved curiosity rights.

Don’t worry, didn’t Pak Lah have just said berani kerana benar? Help Pak Lah, help us, help yourself.

bro, tried to do a link to my blog but doesn’t seem to be working. to me dr m has gone beyond the point of possible return. he has to produce the evidence to back his accusation that there’s corruption in abdullah’s government. he has to tell us who the corrupt minister/s is/are. the former prime minister has to because if he does not his own credibility will be questioned and compromised.

and he has to do it even if there’s to be a patching up between him and his successor, even if abdullah sacks all the 4th floor operatives, and even if the pm decides to step down.

whatever he has (files, dossiers, etc) he must put away for safekeeping. in the event that anything untoward happens to him (touchwood), we will still be told of what he claims to know.

links from Technorati CORRUPTION in Abdullah’s government? Can Dr M prove it? The PM has said he will act if you send him the hard evidence. But blogger skthew is still a little skeptical. Now that Dr M has made the accusation, and made it publicly, he has no choice but to produce the hard evidence. Or face
