AirAsia’s hotel: tunehotel.com

Wednesday, April 5th, 2006 | 10:49 pm @ SK

Due to the certain unknown reasons, in which certain bloody ungrateful MPs believe AirAsia had committed sin(s), its CEO Tony Fernandes remains unperturbed.

In a move which is seen to save even more of travellers’ budget, Tony is venturing into the budget hotel business.

A chain of between 60 and 70 budget hotels is being planned, starting first in Malaysia before expanding across the region later. The first is expected to start business as early as at the end of this year.

Each hotel will have between 100 and 250 rooms, depending on their locations, the source said. The hotels will charge a room rate of between RM50 and RM100.

Next mission: To own LCC terminals.

AirAsia’s venture into the budget business is good news. I think that it would be more beneficial to the public if AirAsia considers buying over the Subang airport (definitely not LCCT) and operate their ecomonical flights from there instead. The taxi fares to LCCT are much much higher than the cost of flying with AirAsia.
Isn’t this the joke of the century?
