More of AirAsia

Sunday, March 19th, 2006 | 11:46 pm @ SK

AirAsia is taking extra steps, even it’s only a few days after being awarded the chance to fly extra domestic routes by the Government.

Now, they are aiming India and more to mainland China.

It’s more than everyone can fly.

AirAsia’s SkyBus: KL Sentral <-> LCC-Terminal

For any reason, one must salute the effort by AirAsia, to pick up things where rich people dump and to build up things where rich people ignore?

Welcome to SkyBus!

UN votes for new Human Rights Council

Saturday, March 18th, 2006 | 10:36 am @ SK

The United Nations General Assembly created a new U.N. human rights body by an overwhelming majority on Wednesday, ignoring objections from the United States.

Ambassadors broke out in sustainedh applause wen the vote was announced: 170-4 with 3 abstentions. Joining the United States in a "NO" vote were Israel, Marshall Islands and Palau.

Human Rights Watch said that abuser nations need to be blocked from the body, created to replace the widely discredited Human Rights Commission, has been heavily criticised for having countries with poor human rights records as members and will be scrapped once the Council starts meeting in June.

Seats will be distributed among regional groups: 13 for Africa, 13 for Asia, 6 for Eastern Europe, 8 for Latin America and the Caribbean and 7 for a block of mainly Western countries, including the US and Canada.

You won’t be surprised the self-proclaimed champion of worldwide democracy in the name of United States, voted against the creation of the new body, given their filthy human right abuse record in Guatanamo Bay and high-profile Abu Ghraib prison abuse.

No wonder Cuba voted in favor and called the council: "A creation of the United States to unjustly condemn Third World countries."

… blogger Aisehman needs a little favor from Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who asked the people not to question the government’s efforts to use the RM4.4 billion savings from the reduction in oil subsidy to improve the public transportation system.

You see, in these very trying times, RM4.4 billion is a lot of money … for frickin’ "businessmen" thirsting for projects.

Maybe you wanna do this: All the "improvement" projects to be paid for by the fund should be dished out transparently, under open tenders.

And how about really opening it up, in the sense that the best bids win, regardless of ethnicity … get what I mean?

If I’m gonna suffer due to the 30sen petrol price hike, I gonna make sure the money saved is damn well "put to good use".

His famous last words: Prove my skepticism wrong, Datuk Seri … prove me wrong, and just fuckin’ do the right thing.

MAS-AirAsia: The biggest winner award goes to …

Friday, March 17th, 2006 | 1:15 am @ SK

Finally, a decision has been made on the rationalisation of domestic air routes, immediately help solved AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes frustration over the prolonged decision.

The result: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will handle primary routes while AirAsia will concentrate on the low-cost flights and domestic non-trunk services, where both players are given the flexibility to determine the flight frequencies, capacity distribution, type of aircraft and fares subject to the supervision of the Transport Ministry.

AirAsia is given the lower hand, but given the chance, it’s show time for AirAsia, in which if MAS continue to declare deficit at its domestic route next year, no excuse heard.

By saying that, I wish both of them the very best, especially when I’m doing my little bit by supporting MAS week-in and week-out.

Official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office can be viewed here.

Coffee, tea or Starbucks?

Thursday, March 16th, 2006 | 1:26 am @ SK

Exclusively, in US.

There may not be such a thing as a free lunch, but there is free coffee.

Starbucks is serving 500,000 cups of free coffee at over 7,500 U.S. locations Wednesday in its first-ever "National Coffee Break". The promotion comes a week after McDonald’s rolled out its new high-end coffee.

The general idea, of course, is to get more folks drinking Starbucks Coffee, but what’s a free cup between friends?

Will be in Malaysia, soon.

Digi on Celcom

Reader Alex sent a picture captured using his cell phone.

According to him, the ads has been there since 3-4 months ago.

Is Celcom being generous or merely ignorant or together, they are up with something else? ;-)

Mixing golf and politics

Thursday, March 16th, 2006 | 12:55 am @ SK

South Korea Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan has resigned for playing golf when he was supposed to be dealing with a national railway strike.

He played golf instead on that day, a national holiday, with a group of businessmen, including one who had been convicted of financial crimes.

Question: Should this blogger pity him for not having a chance to become a minister in Malaysia?

Just a thought.
