Works Minister S Samy Vellu has given his assurance that there will be no increase in highway toll rates.
2 days after returned unopposed as MIC president for a record 10th term, Samy Vellu is obviously in joyous mood and help echoing Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi call to explain the recent fuel price hike to the people albeit using different tactic.
When asked whether the ministry face any pressure from the highway toll concessionaires to increase the rates, he said:
"There’s no pressure. No one can pressure the Works Ministry, it’s (ministry) pressure-proof."
First, he asked rakyat to call his mobile phone: "You can call me at 1am, no problem."
Next, he asked rakyat not to call him anymore: "I have trouble sleeping until 4am. This morning, I received 130 SMS."
Now, he said his ministry is pressure-proof.
