GDrive - Google’s Virtual Hard Drive

Google seems to keep finding ways to excite me.

Last week, during the Google Analyst Day, Google said that it envisages a future with ‘infinite storage, bandwidth, and CPU power’, which is the next big thing: GDrive.

GDrive is an online storage, which will replace the local hard drive as the place where computer users store 100% of user data. Users will be able to map your GMail account as a psuedo-drive in Windows and use the account as a drag-and-drop file system.

With these tools, some users have even sent themselves invites to chain together accounts for an effectively unlimited amount of network storage space.

Sounds familiar to the Gmail Drive which I’m using now.

The presentation is no longer online, but extracts plus a PDF of the slides have been reproduced by blogger Greg Linden.

so they have decided to publish their own gdrive instead of letting the 3rd party software manipulating their gmail storage space, it’s a good decision :)
