Samy: Weather to blame for the MRR2 cracks

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006 | 1:03 am @ SK

According to Works Minister S. Samy Vellu, weather is the real culprit for causing cracks in the Middle Ring Road II (MRR2).

"There’s some problem with the design but it’s the weather in this country that contributed mainly to the structural problem." […]

He said that although the local climate had been taken into account at the initial stage, the hot and wet weather conditions contributed to the cracks, compounded by the pipe leakage at the viaduct.

More or less, I can feel the sense of hopelessness is cultivating within myself, much to the public astonishment with his good PR skill in providing spontaneous yet ridiculous response, don’t you agree?

If only Mother Nature can speak for herself.

In fact, I have heard sources saying that even the engineers who are responsible for the MRR2 project says that the entire project isn’t safe to begin with.

The engineers themselves claimed that they would want to avoid the stretch if they can help it. It’s just not "engineered" for public safety and the approval of the design was still a mystery to them, since there are many "loopholes" in it.

This is the "mother of all lies" that Samy has given!

What about ALL the other flyovers and overhead highways in the Klang Valley? Are they not subjected to the same weather in Malaysia? And they have been exposed longer than the 5 years in MMR2 and why they do not show signs of cracks etc?

A small "biopsy" of the MMR2 would easily show that there were NOT enough cement used, another sad case of sub sub contract work.

    landslide: blame weather
    flyover crack: blame weather

if flyover collapse and cause death, to whom you want to point the blame Mr. Samy ? You want to blame God to cause the death?

This is another version of ‘Bangau oh Bangau’

Oh Mr. Samy, Oh Mr. Samy,
    Kenapa flyover MMR2 crack?

Macam mana flyover MMR2 tak crack,
    Cuaca panas sangat
    Hujan tak berhenti-henti

  4. chengsim says:

why blame the weather for the cracks in MMR2?
why does it only happen to MMR2 instead of the others?
    he’s sick!

the reason why Samy Vellu gained votes during the election is because he’s a Barisan National candidate…

[SK] Well said, if you know any voters at Sungai Siput, please shoot them the question, all of us would like the answer too. ;-)

A classic example of "Berak tak keluar, menyalahkan lantai keras"
