Via The Star:

According to Nazri, Parliament might also introduce webcasts.
But hold on, back in 2004, he was saying that live telecasts of Parliament sittings would bring more negative consequences than positive outcomes.
Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department who oversees parliamentary affairs, had also said live telecasts of Parliament sittings would bring more negative consequences than positive outcomes. He said based on similar live telecasts in countries like Taiwan and Britain, there was a tendency for certain quarters to play to the gallery. He is also worried that the TV may show a deserted Parliament sitting because the quorum is only 26.
The question is: What made him changed his mind afterall?

[...] Saw this post by SK. Frankly speaking, I’m not sure whether it is a good idea to put Parliamentary debates on television. As some may already know, two months’ ago I went to a Parliamentary sitting and from the 3 hour experience sitting there and watching them behaving like monkeys (in front of the public gallery of 2 people), I can’t say I was entirely impressed. But come to think of it, perhaps people will stop voting for Barisan Nasional if they know how badly their Barisan MPs behave in debates. [...]
I for one, would like to see what the MPs I voted for are really doing on parliament.
I’m for this idea.

Perhaps, if the MP’s knows that they will be viewed live by all they will know how to behave in the parliament.
I think this is the BEST idea this Nazri fellow has had in a very long time. Except this should have been implimented yesterday and not simply an idea today.
Fantastic news. As an example, I hope he emulates the UK’s online version here: http://www.parliamentlive.tv :)
Hmm.. I might be re-evaluating my opinion of Nazri if he pulls this off….
