When speculation is rife that Perodua MD Tuan Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir will head the ailing Proton, new Proton Chancellor 2.0 V6 has been announced for its availability, starting from Dec 15.

But before that, this executive class sedan which uses the Perdana V6 engine with Proton Waja design will grace the Asean Summit from Dec 12 to Dec 14. However, the price of the Chancellor remain private and confidential, at least for the time being.

Public expectation towards this car is yet to be seen and heard, but I’m expecting the launching of this car as a marketing strategy. But, let’s be fair, new lauching is a good news, and timely for the not-so-good image of Proton lately, isn’t it? ;-)

Afterall, same old proton, it’s just that, different "organ", nothing less nothing more.

Otherwise, what you think?

  3. SK says:

One say crap, one say boring, I say LPPL.

  4. HR says:

Total piece of rubbish. Do M’sians look dumb & stupid to Proton. Taking us for granted and a ride for the last 10yrs with sub-standard cars.
Totally disapointed. I say close down Proton & stop talking crap as national pride. The existance of Proton is only helping some bumis and the other races are made to subsidize their richness. Boycott Proton until they can prove otherwise and give the hardworking M’sians their right to own better cars than this piece of junk.

  5. joe says:

dear Toh Pek Gong, i pray that to you bless proton Marketing&Sales Dept not to screw by the m’sia viewer when its launch. bcoz such design kind of humiliation to all rider that Botong r damn useless in creativity.

and i pray, you bless the top management to get revamp instead of expecting bullet from carlover!! :-p

  6. Kenneth Hoo says:

errr……..again proton is making another junk on the road…dun wanna comment much about this so-called new model again, coz proton alrdy make me feel so damm sick.

  7. T. Wombly says:

Close down the stupid company! Waste of resources, a total drain of funds that could have gone elsewhere, some people who are doing nothing are obivously getting richer AND an absolute embarassment to the world!!! KEEP IT UP!!

I say… boycott all purchases of Protons… support Perodua or any other car brand…

BOYCOTT = zero to low sales = bottom line in RED with multiple zeros at back = ……….

     1 out of two ain’t toooooo bad….

  8. kopisusu says:

hurmm..itulah rakyat malaysia, menghina produk tempatan sendiri dan mengagungkan produk dari luar.  jika dibandingkan dengan pengeluar kereta yg lain seperti honda / toyota, sama saja. mereka juga mengeluarkan ‘facelift’ yg baru, tetapi organ dalaman nyer masih juga yg lama. "junk on the road and rubbish also". jadi kenapa tak kutuk pun? padahal sama jer.  memalukan saja sebagai rakyat malaysia mengutuk jenama sendiri.

  9. lim_peh says:

CTL, it think proton will continue using this ‘creative’ stuff utill we ‘capai WAWASAN 2020′ lah. Be pround with our own jenama, because no automotive in the world can having same design to last more than 10 year. Proton Saga, Iswara, Wira are proud of all Malaysia.
    MALAYSIA BOLEH….

  10. Iqbal says:

Guys, I do agree it’s a little boring to see the same ol’ stuff on the outside. But the interior is pretty impressive. OK then, some of us feel that we’re all ‘kutuking’ the malaysian brand too much. But hey, just like the german sying I’ve learned which the nearest meaning goes “either you do it right or do nothing at all”. My point is, when people say it is a boring product, it’s not always beacuse they JUST want to insult it. It’s because it is pretty bad or maybe not up to their expectations. You can’t just take in the negative stuff. And the so called ’supporting the malaysian brand’ people..don’t sound as if we have to buy these things out of sympathy. We should buy it because it’s worth buying. I’m not being anti proton here. I’m just saying that sometimes, someone critizise because he/she wanted the product to be better. I’m sure if the same person who critizised proton would be appretiating the product once it gets to be much more progressive and attractive. People are like that. It’s also human nature to be mad at critics. Though the best critics are the ones that actually contribute to the problem solving. I mean, at least give some suggestions on how things could be better instead of just complaining. Maybe your ideas might be what proton needs.

  11. IT-sideways says:

    alamak..

how come Iqbal only attack me only ??

when i said it is boring.. i din mean that it has no hope. I mean that it didn’t attract my attention enough to look at it - for whatsoever reasons you can think of.

So, where gone wrong ? it is the brand or my personal experiences ? I am driving a proton anyway. Proton marketing department have to read this blog and figure out the bottom line.

I never look at the news..  coz i think it is boring to look at it. I would be interested with Mitsubishi Lancer, Cherolet and etc. and even BMW’s bike.

  12. Iqbal says:

dude…I was actually defending you. which part of my comment said that I was attacking you? hahaha. I thought it’s funny because I was a little bit on your side mr. Sideways. read my first sentece….”Guys, I do agree it’s a little boring to see the same ol’ stuff on the outside. But the interior is pretty impressive.” Nevermind, silap sikit je.

  13. IT-sideways says:

    Iqbal.. no problem.

    no pain no gain.

  14. A 14 Year Old Guy says:

Proton Chancellor huh..its looks kinda okay..but its not a type of car for such a price..its even more expensive then the perdana v6..My dad bought a proton Waja..about a couple years back..At first, I was like..I mean its looks so solid and all..but..finally i found that the car was nothing like a nissan sunny 1.3..it was like a piece of cake getting munch in..The rear bumpers were so soft..I mean if you wanna make a car..make it like solid larr..then..its worth the price..I mean Proton Chancellor doesnt worth that price..I am not ”kutuk-ing” or anything..thats about it..

if u malaysian and u should and must proud to be malaysian. so sokong lah jenama kita, PROTON! ni lagi satu nanti  keluar hand phone jenama malaysia kena kutuk lagi… kalau like this forever.. hem…. answer by yourself! la…

  16. cikgu says:

ok. tapi kenapa masih mengekalkan design model lama. tahniah.

  17. ...this is eDin.c0m says:

untuk mengeluarkan produk yg benar2 baru kenalah membuat acuan yg serba baru. of course its use a lots  of expenditure. so klu kita ‘tak nak‘ beli proton dari mana proton dapat wang utk itu. kereta jenama lain pun ada yg mengekalkan part yg lama body ja yg tukar dah nampak lain.i’m not pointing finger to anyone but we as malaysian should united. for the year past we’v see a lot of ‘kemelut‘ in our stream of administrative. we don’t know who is right n who is wrong also where the problem arise.-just an opinion, tq

  18. kopisusu says:

korang semua nih, asyik nak kutuk-kutuk dan kutuk-kutuk. padahal pengeluar kereta jenama lain pun sama gak, guna "frame" yg sama gak utk model2 mereka. tapi tak kena pun kutuk2. contohnya bila kereta jenama proton eksiden dan mengalami impak yg teruk, terus kena kutuk dan maki-hamun. tapi jika kereta jenama lain eksiden gak, dan mengalami impak yg teruk, tak ada pun kena kutuk2. padahal impaknya sama jer. korang ingat jenama mitsubishi tue bagus sgt ke, interior pun tiru proton wira, lagi mau cakap design diaorang.
kalau korang pandai sangat, berkemahiran, kenapa tak jadi engineer kereta? baru korang tau betapa payahnyer nak design dan buat kereta. jgn senang2 nak kutuk2 jer. cakap jer pandailah, cuba buat tengok. baru korang tahu macam mana rasanyer.

  22. Orang Bodoh says:

To the people who think malaysian should support proton because it is malaysia product, please wake up.

Proton is 1 man’s dream (Tun M) which make thousands of malaysians suffer for paying Premium Price for low quality car, with no ABS, Airbag, tin milo body. Saga which is 1970’s, still making & selling today? what a joke ! Please don’t say it is cheap for poorer people, the same price you can buy KIA, Hyundai & many more if no import duty.

    Proton, Puik !

  23. ...this is edin.com says:

    i’m not point to anyone…but….
even with airbag, abs, or solid body car, once an accident occur, passenger going to.. die..

    just an opinion, ignore this

  24. it-sideways says:

Proton Iswara (special edition) is my first car (still is).

I have to admit that the reason I go for it is because it is perceived as cheap. We all have heard of stories about the quality. Anyway, during that time, I figured that for a casual drive like me, there is no need to go for better brand. I spent more than RM 40K for this car (including the interest)

After 2+ years of driving, I like to conclude that it is not a good car, primary reason it is not a safe car to drive for outstation. Seeing those "macha" doing 140-150 at the north south highway with the same car really sent my hair standing, I am praying for their safety.

Besides that, I also find that my car is aging as much as animal. It is only 2 years and I started to experience many aging factor. Contradictory, my father who is retired and having a Honda Civic (10 years old) which is still doing better than my car, way much more better and it is getting younger.

Therefore, if proton want to brand itself in terms of safety and long-lasting, it is not working YET.

  25. it-sideways says:

For less than RM 50K, what choices do we (Malaysia) have to choose from other brand ?

  26. Onepiece says:

Actually in my opinion, the problem with Proton cars is the price vs. the quality.

For this kind of quality, it is not reasonable to spend so much money on it. Imagine buying Chancellor when you can get much more safety features, reliability and performance by buying other cars like Honda, Toyota, or even Hyundai.

Apart from quality, Proton should try to reduce its cost. In Malaysia, it can probably still survive with the support of the government, but how can it challenge other car makers in global market?

Yes, we must support Malaysia made product, but that does not mean we must support it blindly. Without criticism, one cannot improve.

  27. Salahuddin says:

To  HR, Joe, Kenneth Ho, T. Wombly

What are you jokers are craping about, if you don’t like the car just get the hell out. If you are so god damn rich, buy your own god damn car. This is to help the poor bumis.Mind your own business. IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT HERE JUST GET OUT, BUY YOUR OWN  GOD DAMN COUNTRY

  28. joe says:

    wassupp wif u saaaalllahudddin,

i guess u must part of the builder of this CHANCERLLOR??is liberalization world  nowadays, if a giagantic company cant take comment from the users/public must why jus move the company to one corner of the world and do their own thing?

IF A MAN DENIED CRITISIZE, FAILURE MAY THE ONLY ROUTE!…quote JOE (so what!!)

again, why many MNC (esp. in IT sectors) managed climb to the top chart becoz they did a thorough survey. Information they collected help them to build a tremendous results of their products.

why this PROTON repeat the same mistake again and again, what if ur love one repeat the same mistake again and again (tiara / savy / chancerllor) tak boleh harap laaa…

every single soul in Bolehland knew that proton is just another failure who get direct support from goverment. TO: Sallahudin; who is goverment trying to help?
poor BUMIs??!! please dont talk rubbish and open up your eye, only the top BUMIS minister and their top associate get the hundreds millions ringgit from credit/rasuah/komisen/duit kopi/sympathy/tipu rakyat..etc.. by forcing the rakyat berbilang kaum who work damm hard spilling their every sweat and blood and end up pays nearly lifetime loan to buy load of rubbish which is not worth one’s ringgit. To the poor bumis will still remain poor waiting for the Garment to come knock on their front door and make them a cup of kopi-o kau tambah gula.!!?? come on la, my point is the middle and lower bumis community will get nothing compare to the top dog (mahallel) and their abang adik kakak datuk makcik cucu cicit which assets worth fortune (not included the undeclared SIDE incomes genarated from the garment/rakyat) as another lame excuse to tipu rakyat that they are working very damm hard to help the BUMIS. Please to those who is blindly meng-agong agong kan their garment and their proton to wake-up dari tidur lena 50 tahun and find some thruth about their corrupt minds and their dirty hand. Seek the truth and you will find it. Next general election please vote wisely or stop complaining this and that no good. Dare to change? berani berubah? it is in your very own hands.

  31. peminat proton says:

all i can say is i’m frustrated with proton. yes proton is right if they say toyota, honda, nissan, etc also did the same….bodi baru engine lama or engine baru bodi lama or bodi lama engine pun lama. but the difference toyota, honda, nissan, etc has gained the trust and confidence of the buyer. they can do / willing to take the risk people will buy. whilst for proton, i myself until today still having the stigma having to man handled help my supposedly powered window properly in place during a heavy down pour on the seremban / kay ell highway. not to mention bumper lembik, ceiling runtuh, etc. This is not kutuk but reality. The earlier days proton has made it there, credit to it’s earlier leaders, somehow along the way they lose it…… mana itu orang. so much of mixed and matched….tak jalan. whose next? sendiri mau pikir ada patut ka?

The answer to the question is the peoples confidence that need to be addressed????????

  32. proton-wira says:
