TV Smith managed to catch up with DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and had a chat with him.
He was saying that he is planning to blog like his father, albeit different approach.
Merely two months ago, The Sun’s Ng Kee Seng interviewed Guan Eng and asked him over his father influence towards his role in DAP. He replied:
I am proud of my father’s achievements and his selfless sacrifice, compassion and service for the nation. But my detractors need not fear for I am no Lim Kit Siang. There can be only one Lim Kit Siang. They threw away the mould after him.I merely ask to be judged as a person on my own merits. If I do not perform, criticise me. If I falter, pan me. But do not judge me merely on the basis of Kit Siang’s son. That’s not fair to Lim Kit Siang and definitely not fair to me.
Nobody asked me whether I was Lim Kit Siang’s son when they detained me without trial under the ISA. No one asked the same questions when I was imprisoned in Kajang for 18 months, sleeping on a cement floor without beds. And no one mentioned that I was Kit Siang’s son when I was disqualified from Parliament and lost my pension.
And neither was this raised when Eric Chia sued me for defamation over my ACA report on the Perwaja scandal.
For all what Guan Eng and his father Kit Siang have done, I salute them for their past decades of contribution towards the growth of Malaysia.
Read Mack too.

You said,
Well they are smart politicians, and have managed to keep the ruling coalition busy. Although I don’t see their contribution in nation building all that clearly. Perhaps you may enlighten me with some examples of what they have done. Don’t hold back, we mst give credit where it is due.
Dear leader Guan Eng,
I am so proud of you being a good leader of DAP and for the Rakyat.
You had been jailed, persecuted and pin pointed at for many cases which in most of the cases it is not your own problem. Being a son of a prominant VIP famous politician is not easy as I can see from you.
I had met you once at PJ GongXi Fa Cai DAP gathering on 17 Feb Sunday 2pm and I do not have a chance to shake hand with you as you are surrounded by hundred of reporters and DAP members. Anyway, I had heard your speech and snap your photo when you were interview by reporter and on the stage.
I head a lot about you, some are very negative comment related you with your father. I hope you will strive for DAP and Malaysia and will win at 2008 election!
I read your daddy’s blog and I think maybe you should have a stunning blog which express your point of view and political idealogy which young people like to hear and read. Be strong my dear leader, do not defeat by negative comments. sometime we learn to love our enemies within DAP & forgive their wrong doing hopping that God will change them.
Try to be close to grassroots members in all strong and weak DAP branches. When you are close to your people and when your people can pour their point of view to you, things will start to change to a better prospective by God’s grace. This point is also pointed out by my family who are strong supporter of DAP but never join DAP or involve in politic. All of us care for you and respect you very much.
All the best for your plan and DAP !
May Jesus God bless your wishes to come true and make you bold and strong.
Rgds,
Jennifer
Congratulations, Chief Minister. I am sure you would do a good job to make sure that DAP rule Penang for a long, long time.
Dear Mr. Lim Guan Eng,
Congratulations on your appointment as Chief Minister!
This is an opportunity so hard to earn, please get close to the people and work towards a better Penang and eventually set a benchmark for other states to follow!
Those who have lost definitely criticise you, please do not let these kind of nasty comments to hinder you from working towards your plan/ mission.
I am sure you can do it! And i do know you need time to implement.
One more advice, people are eying on you. Some people have dirty trick, please stay "clean and healthy" image, do not let those close to you to get hold of your weakness, for e/g Dr. Chua SL, NY ’s governor.
You have all our support! And we hope to see you continue for terms.
Best wishes,

Dear Guan Eng,
Could you kindly let me have your email address so as to enable me to send
a copy of the many articles I have suipported and hit at the PM for his uncalled for remarks.
Thank you.
Dear Guan Eng,
Some great quotes by Shakespeare – specially for you.
SOME ARE BORN GREAT
SOME ACHIEVE GREATNESS
SOME HAVE GREATNESS THRUST UPON THEM.
Syabas – You have made History.
Formulate and make all Malaysians proud – Help our Poor Malay Friends,
Chinese and Indian Friends. The recent Election Victory clearly shows that
Race Politics is diminishing and will be diminised by Next General Election.
We are Malaysians. Just see how the Malaysians voted with one voice and deprived the Barisan of the 2/3 majority. Keep up your Good work.
Dear Guan Eng,
Congra for being successful in the election.
You have a great task awaiting for you as the new Chief Minister. I do hope that you focus on the state welfare and development, and make little or avoid touching on some issues (e.g. NEP) which media and some quaters like to blow it up. This will give you more headache and less focus on the job.
My advice…if you are able to deliver…the people of Penang will make the talk for you.
regards,
Peres Ng @ Real Penang Boy
Dear Guan Eng,

Other than that, i think Perez Ng WK has got a point there and it s indeed a good advice for you.

This is definately an occasion worth celebrating over. Congrats to our new Penang CM. The much long wait has finally bear fruit. I think this marks a new begining, and a new start for the opposition. This will probally be the only chance for the opposition to silence all critiques, and prove once and for all that Malaysians are ready to embrace a change…
Dear YB,
Malay support DAP not because of it is DAP, but we Malay support BA which comprises of DAP, PKR and PAS. Pls dont detray us by touching sensitive issues like DEB.
You cannot count on the Malay support should you continue talking about DEB. There are many other pressing issues need to be tackled.
AABM
Dear Guan Eng,
The fact that Penang had been fell to opposition parties is good. At least there will be the change as compared to last time. Although I knew DAP & PKR will try their best to develop Penang with Mega Projects, the power to launch the projects still in suruhanjaya hand. A big concern about what will the Penang citizen think once they know the news. I personally hope that DAP can monitor the Mega projects progress & ensure that there is no corrupcy happen among people in charge. I worry that suruhanjaya power will halt the penang development. I also hope Penang citizen will think more mature that the stop of Penang Mega projects is due to the suruhanjaya, not the Penang new government. Of course, I hope CM Guan Eng can think of idea to get all the Mega projects to be able to launch in Penang. This will let the citizen to see how the new government performs.
Fair & Square
Dear Guan Eng,
Now, you have a lot of great tasks awaiting for you. we do not have special care on how you bring to the state welfare and development, we just hope you always remember: cleanhanded and rightfulness.
We truthly support you!

Down with Kit Siang… Long Live Guan Eng :-)
Dear YB,
I am truly glad that after nearly 50 years under the BN; the opposition namely DAP, PKR and PAS have made a break through in denying a 2/3 majority for BN.
I for one, Salute all of you for the hard work and relentless efforts in this fight for all the citizens in Malaysian citizens be it Malay, Chinese, Indians and other ethnic races. Time has changed and proven that we are matured enough to note that after all These Years under BN, this has brought unnecessary marginalization of certain races namely Chinese and Indians in terms of fostering and uniting all the races in a close relationship and partnership.
With you, as the Captain of the Ship in
Penang
, it is hoped that you will be Just and Fair to all the Rakyat who voted and gave you the mandate to change the ruling coalition. Help those poor irrespective of race so that they can also receive a portion of the fruits from the progress of the nation. Try not to touch on sensitive issues like the NEP at the moment, as there are Oppositions and the Press who will capitalize on this and play up Racial Issues which would not benefit you personally but damaging to you personally and to the party you stand for.
Lastly keep up with the Good Work and Walk the Talk in whatever things you do. "Stay Clean and Far from Corruption and Cronyism".
All the Best to You…
Best regards,
Chong Y.K
Dear YB Lim Guan Eng,
Though i only recently know you who you are.But i have already know you as a opposistion party for more than 15 years .Times have changed dramatically.Media have changed .I only know you thru youtube.Your speech is so impressive & dynamic.Without internet, we malaysian still half way asleep without you telling us what is going wrong with our politics. Our media has changed so much.Luckily, internet cannot go censorship.
Whatever you said in the election is very true.I can see the reform is coming .Malaysia need to change.we cannot allow to stay on for ever.we need to be on par with Singapore.Only through you setting a good example to BN & MCA,Malaysia have hope.We need to change, change,& change.

I refer to the following headlines:
‘Two weeks needed to finalise candidates for Penang Island and Prai councils’ posts’ published in NST 2008/03/20 By : Audrey Dermawan
It will take at least two weeks to finalise the list of candidates to fill the 44 posts in the Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP) and the Seberang Prai Municipal Council (MPSP) which were left vacant following the resignation of the former councillors after the change in the state leadership.
Comments:
In recent post-election announcement, Mr Lim Guan Eng had openly expressed the need to reestablish local council elections. This news was greeted with much acceptance and happiness.
However, the above article has suggested that the council posts will be selected by appointment instead of the initially proposed, democratic election. We are very much in favour of the local election taking place as it will promote transparency and accountability to the council with no cronyism or nepotism. Pls take proper steps to ensure that the council posts are elected as originally proposed in your pre-election manifesto.
Yours,
Fellow Penangite.
Dear YB Lim Guan Eng,
Please watch out your supporter behavior which will spoil the image of
DAP being a government of the hope of Penang Residents.
There is a minor crisis in Nibong Tebal whereby your Chairman of DAP Taman Bukit Panchor Branch Nibong Tebal act rudely against Pai Teik School Union
which will made the committee fill upsad…….
I understand that this problem not only happen in Nibong Tebal …………
26th March 2008 at 6.00P.M.
Dear YB Lim Guan Eng,
I like to take this opportunity to congratulate the opposition front for obtaining two third majority in the recent election
Some of the DAP supporters have get of their mind to create unnecessary
press comments against Pai Teik School Union, Nibong Tebal.
As a ruling party, the responsible leaders should uphold his position and mind his words especially in this small town Nibong Tebal.
I hope the DAP leaders will not follow the UMNO attitude and should be more tolerance to the people comments.
I will be glade to listen to your comments..
Thank you
