…. DANIEL!
Congrats to DANIEL and bravo to NITA too!
And the judges have this to say …
Paul Moss said:
"Agree to disagree!"
Fauziah Latiff said:
"We do it in a very professional way, I really respect them (Paul and Roslan), orang lama!"
And I specially LOVE what Roslan Aziz said:
"Apa yang paling menyeronokkan ialah semua bangsa berada dalam satu dewan sahaja!"
Thanks Roslan for the timely reminder.

Blogger BP Bites has this to say. Quote:
It’s really not about talent or making a difference. Thank you Malaysia – you didn’t disappoint me.So I guess I won’t be expecting anything different from the next General Elections, either.

damn you blog fast.
And the winner is MageP for the fastest post. I am 3 mins late! Ish!
I really love what Roslan said.
I tend to disagree with what him because he likes to exaggerate opinions at times.
However, this bangsa Malaysia comment is just too good.
Lilian,
Fastest post, however I’m sad that Nita lost … ;-(
Don’t want to speculate that much, if not later Daniel fans blast me, win through mui mui zai votes. ;P

Yeap, a friend of mine was damn frustrated that he told off those ppl as "racist" due to their votes to Daniel because of going against Nita.
I hope Nita will continue to sing, to say the least.
woah, so fast already got someone posting. i just logged on…
i’m gonna join malaysian idol next year and i’ll definitely get to the finals. apparently you just have to look good and have a decent enough voice.
mumble your way through also can get in one, no problem.
must vote for me yeah? i’ll be getting plastic surgery to look prettier.
LOL
p/s: sarcasm intended
Silveraven,
Next year, do it like the Michael Jackson. He performed well just now lar ;-p
i hate to say this but, i’m a little disappointed as well.
but i’m sure daniel has some kind of talent/trait/specialty that i have failed to appreciate.
i really hope that Malaysian’s first astronaut will not be an sms-voted candidate.
one of the observations made from MI is:
the number of those who voted for talent, is small compared to the number of those who vote for looks/appearance.
let’s face it, you can’t compete with rich young girls (okay, young girls from a rich family), because their voting power is great. It’s either they’re damn rich, or they don’t know the value of the ringgit.
good for the entertainment industry though.
Congratulations to both Nita and Daniel, I must say. They both sang well enough to reach the finale. No doubt.
yealor. i’ll also learn how to moonwalk.
no lah, britney spears better.
i thought micheal’s mic wasn’t working…
:O …
I was cheated then, thought that he really rocks!
LOl…they played MJ cds just now laa…apa la lu…u din dl malaysian idol MJ video meh? his singing was….errrrr….hmmmm….ROTFLMAO
not only rich young girls voted for him, my friend said her maid was planning to vote for Daniel 20 times yesterday night- she has her own handphone!!!
My personal opinion goes along with Paul Moss.
Considering the completeness of "package", apparently Daniel has it, as opposed to Nita.
The music industry is not about who sings better and who does not. Singers are brands and their albums/songs are products.
From an A&R Director or a Producer’s perspective, how can you sell both idols by comparison?
Nita – You can market her only just as any other "diva" class singer, powerful voice (albeit unique), great showmanship, appealing appearance, but, that is all you could do. The best you can come up with is another Siti Nurhaliza, A-Mei or Kelly Clarkson equivalent type of brand, no more no less. (Note that most boys are actually screaming about soccer in the mamak below my apartment, instead of supporting Nita like how "cute little girls" are supporting Daniel during the results show)
Daniel – You can market him as
1 . Boy band kind of idol, that appeals to the pre-teens or teens (with appearance, most obviously)
2. Singer/songwriter talent kind of artist, in which, most people will find it easy to accept as a "complete artist" that knows his bread and butter, instead of just plain singing (Think LeeHom).
3. Easy listening type of singer (like he demonstrated in his last rendition of a Malay song), that appeals to the listeners of either MIX FM or Light FM.
4. Mixture of 2 or more above.
From the above comparing criteria, it is apparent that Daniel is the winner, that manages to hit the majority of the market. (Note the keyword "market", and not musically-inclined ears), and, don’t forget that the major driving force for the local music industry (in fact, the global music industry) are people with the age between 12 – 18, whether we like it or not.
But then, I could be wrong, for all it matters is the sales/marketing technique to position the above mentioned 2 idols. Think about this, you can make better burgers than McDonalds, but why is McDonalds still the winner?
In this case, we witness how does the industry works, like Paul said, fan base and revenue, that’s all that matters in this industry, so don’t be surprised the next time if you see a great vocalist gets less than half of the attention he/she should, and subsequently gets buried in the market by the competitors.
I dont care who win or lose, chinese or malay, but the thing that really sucks me is that the telcos company with TV8 & TV3 had made millions of ringgit from the 1.2 million SMS they recieved. Just imagine the amount – 1.2 million x 50 sen(malaysia),1.50(sabah&sarawak),1.00(singapore) & 2.00(brunei)
the judges gets more or less 1% each of the total amount
the 2 comperes each between RM 200,000 – RM300,000
& ….the LOSERS are the smart malaysians who sms…..sms…..sms…….without thinking whether they have enough food on the table, unless they go for maggie mee day & night.
Keep on sms guys & gals…..!!
Cheers.
I’m one of the 50 cents loser too … Seems like the maid is richer than me! :-(
[...] By looking at the result of the Malaysian Idol, I’m thinking IF the Malaysia Astronaut Idol really kick-off, what will happend and what kind of impact will cause to the country, in a whole? [...]
[...] In the beginning of the season i’ve heard Daniel sing before and i thought to myself how awful his pronunciation and his pitching is, in the final i still thought to myself how awful his pronunciation and his pitching is! Im sure alot of people is in the same boat with me because alot of people approach me in MSN telling that Nita is better and bla bla bla. [...]
It does appear that while Nita has been gracious in her loss, her fans are not !!!!You know what it means when so many of you support Nita and she loses? It means that you are just talkers. Poor Nita with supporters like you.
What makes an `idol’? It’s not just talent, not just looks. But that certain qualities, personalities, disposition or if you can’t name it – the certain X factor that makes you likeable and admirable. I am double the age of a teenager but I find Daniel has that `idol’ quality while Nita has the upper-hand of being more experienced, better vocals and even showmanship. But you must remember, this NOT a singing contest and the judges have no say at all in determning the winner. So, don’t cry foul or say its unfair because who you like to win didnt win. As there is one Nita fan out there, there are probably two Daniel’s fans.
Well, I somehow do agree that it’s fairer if each person only vote ONCE. But taht’s thedifficulty in technicality for SMS votes.. and I guess we have to admit the the organising TV station and sponsor is not prepared to lose out their big profits from the millions of sms votes.
pardon my ignorance but anyone knows how the voting system of American Idol or that of any other countries go? I have a feeling that’s it entirely public votes as well…
Personally i am happy that Daniel wins. I wouldn’t have a problem at all if Nita wins though as I thinks she is a better singer/performer. But somehow I still support Daniel.. and this is a personal preference ;)
Honestly , I was dissapointed that Daniel won the Malaysian Idol. However , one has to agree that the contest we are looking at is "Malaysian Idol" . An Idol has
to be someone that has a huge following , and Daniel has that .
I hope that when World Idol comes along , lets just send Jac .
On friday night after i heard the performance of Daniel and Nita. I actually said "IF DANIEL WIN, I CUT!!!". Darn it . now i have to go cut.
LOL!
Make sure you cut and paste the proof here. =))
daniel is the best!!
i satisfaction with DANIEL!!!
He damn talented
gooluck to daniel in the future
wish him all the best !!!!!!
i dun agree wif the winner at ALL… he was such a loser tat not alot ppl really know tat…he used 2 be one of the vip in jay chao when jay came 2 msia..tat time the taiwanese tat he was good..so decided 2 send him 2 taiwan 4 trainin…u kno wad..after 6month he got kicked out ..n hv 2 get back 2 msia…wad a shame !! he isnt good in intrusmental at all ..he might know how 2 play all these shit..but he dun hv the skil at all..tat is kind of basic thing tat he played…if u not agree wif me ..then u muz be a lame musician… * most of u dun agree wif me r young childish gals who only like sum1 wif his looks !!* tat is kind of crap i think. MI also create 4 our msia gals 2 watch i think…i dun think any adults really watch…
Dear Daniel
A great job well done! Congratulations on your sweet success as the Malaysian Idol. Well, I believe sweet success came with a lot of pains, sorrows along with some happiness as well. That is part of life.
I first saw you when you performed the second time, I missed you during the 1st audition but my eldest son who is only 11 told me that he likes you very much.
Since then I have paid attention to you and I have been your avid supporter through out the competition till the grand finale. Who says only girls are crazy about you, this aunty here has been voting for you vigorously.
You have a special and unique voice coupled with your neat, trendy, cute looking and confidence performance, I knew that you would go far. In addition, you can play several musical instruments; do composing and that confirmed that you are very likely the winner.
After the Grand Finale, both Nita and you did very well. It was really difficult to vote. I took time to think seriously, until the very last minute. I have voted for you for the following reasons:-
1) powerful voice is not everything; you have a unique voice that suits you very well. (singers like J J Lin of Singapore, Jay Chau, they too have unique voices) To me, your diction problem was because you are so used to singing Mandarin songs and so when you switch to English or Malay songs, you find that it is a bit difficult for you to control. (But, overtime, you have shown improvements.)
Your diction problems can be corrected and improved.
2) fans/supporters expectations are very high; that person must not only sing well, but must have the extra things like your extra talent such as playing musical instruments and composing, YOU HAVE IT.
3) YOU have not been in the bottom 3 before, this show that you have a big and stable fans base,
4) if YOU are chosen as winner, your career can be expanded compared to Nita (I mean you can be a composer, producer because you are musical inclined.)
5) YOU have shown to have a good personality, humble, good attitude to learn and improve, take criticisms constructively, and always put on a smiley face.
6) I hope to see a Malaysian who can be as good as Wang Lee Hom, Jay Chau or J J Lin (whom I respected and admired very much for their talents). Daniel, I believe Malaysian have found YOU.
I was also from a Chinese school. When I saw you speak, I knew that you are from a Chinese school. But, during the Press Conference, I was so proud of you. You are so compose and showed confidence. Your English has also improved a lot within a few moths and I believed you must have put in a lot of efforts.
Daniel, so much of praises, encouragements, motivations from the Malaysians, there are also another group of people who condemn on your title. Do not feel sad about this. Even if Nita wins, there will be something for people to comment too!
Both of you are good, but you are definitely better. It is just like in a beauty queen pageant, all of them are selected to represent their own country, and they are beautiful and good. But when one is finally crowned the Champion, she possessed something extra that beaten others finalists, it could be her confidence, the way she answered to question, her personality and so forth.
Therefore, the Malaysian cannot be wrong, YOU ARE THE BEST. Show it to the Malaysian, do what you need to do as a Malaysian Idol.
Daniel, YOU CAN DO IT. All the best to you and once again, DANIEL BOLEH.
Aunty Callie
Malaysia idol you are the BEST, You can do it at all![]()
I disagree with your opinion
The 2nd MI is a MM (read: Malaysian Mistake) … M’sian Idol=reality tv, American Idol=reality tv. But why didn’t/can’t Malaysians choose our MI like how the Americanos choose their idol? Kelly Clarkson is one of the good ones. Bo Bice is cool too even tho he didn’t get First Place! Oh! Get your hands on Santana’s latest to hear Bo Bice and you’ll know what I’m talking about! (listen: Brown Skin Girl, "All That I Am ~ Santana 2005)
Back to MI 2 … I didn’t even bother to watch MI2 this time around. I was sceptical of MI1 but heck! After listening to Jac and Dina perform, I was kinda hooked! They are both good! THAT’s what MI should be about! (I wonder if the 3 judges have any say to who should win coz then I bet MI will have an idol thats of pure talent!) … I hope history won’t repeat itself in MI3 (if there is gonna be one). If it does, then … what say you we change Malaysian Idol into Mission Impossible instead…?
[Msia does not need a Hung-like idol]
Daniel,u are the best singer in my heart…i will support u all the way…u must add oil oh…
