Yesterday, Ex-Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir demanded that the Government should divulge the name of those who have been given Approved Permits (APs) to import cars as a means of removing any suspicion of improper conduct. Quote:
“The best way to silence any accusation of unfairness is to publish the names of all who have been given APs, how many permits they have received and what cars they are bringing in.” [...]“In order to know exactly how many cars are being brought in, the best way is for the Customs Department to publish the names of those who have been given APs.” [...]
Agree or not, Minister of International Trade and Industry Rafidah Aziz, is instant to refute.
Kah Dah is Back in Action (BIA), don’t pray-pray, she will sue.

AP Wars Episode 3 – The Revenge of Mak Dah?
As far as I understand the concept of AP, alongside with the positioning of Mak Dah that it is one that encourages Bumiputra involvements in the automobile industry. Seems like a positive incentive and it brings good to the nation.
So why is it so hard to publish the list of names? They are aspiring entrepreneurs that we should learn from, aren’t they? They are people who take the industry up to the next level in Malaysia, aren’t they? Here’s an analogy, Boon Siew made Honda bikes big in Malaysia despite his very humble beginnings (washing buses, I heard), so I can also expect to see some names that started as a Ramly Burger flipper to become a successful car sales dealer, correct? Shouldn’t there be a next Boon Siew-like here? Considering that many has actually succeeded?
So indeed our country’s automobile industry is up to the next level, thanks to the encouragement of APs. How come I am still looking at the catalog of Nissan where a new Sentra , which the basic build up price is no less than a Waja, turns 80K after certain duties? (Look at the online catalog of http://www.nissan.com.my to see the price with and without excise duties!) Are these really neccessary considering that the industry is flourishing as claimed?
As for Dr. M. I have nothing to say. If his son deals Porsche as a true salesman, congrats, he proves that he’s not another Papa’s boy. Clap clap!
I wonder if one can get me a Mazda RX-8 at a better price if they deal with the KEY PERSON at NAZA… My dream car (Will remain a dream. A Malaysian Dream)
