Nazri: Malaysiakini is a LIAR

Thursday, April 14th, 2005 | 1:14 pm @ SK

Everything comes to a standstill, until Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz started to provoke the whole issue again.

Yesterday, Nazri said the government would act over the April 1 report that three ministers and a menteri besar would be charged with corruption. Quote:

“As far as I understand it, (on) April Fool’s Day, people tell lies. Therefore malaysiakini is definitely a liar.”

“Even though sometimes you made statements that were wrong, we did not take action because we thought you might have made mistakes in your facts. But this joke was not, it was deliberately wrong.”

“You already know this is not true and yet you put it up and say this was an April Fool’s joke. What is this? (As ) a media (organisation), you have to be serious.” […]

But, what make things looks so hillarious is that, he conceded that he did not read the report in full and maintained that he did not have to do so to realise it was false. Quote:

“I know it was not true because the prime minister has not signed or agreed to take action against three ministers and a chief minister.”

Opposition leader Lim Kit Siang said Nazri was “over-reacting” and urged the government to retract its excessive reaction. Quote:

“When I first read the report I was in Manila. I thought this was not something bad that the country has to be ashamed of. In fact this was something that the country should be proud of.” […]

Well, even the Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail denied that he had directed the police to investigate malaysiakini for publishing a April Fool’s joke.

I thought thats it, end of story. But the reality, it’s not!

Nazri is furious with Malaysiakini just because of a joke. As a civilian, I shall advise Datuk (Look, I’m respectful enough) that theres a lot more issues that he can spend time on, but definitely not on this joke as what he means to be too.

Of course, unless it’s the meaning behind the whole scenario that provokes him.

Yah, there might be other things to do, but not our priority.

Improving the education system, the infrastructure, the defence, not our priority.

Standard in our tertiary institutions falling. Like they give a damn.

Indonesians could send destroyers to Blok Ambalat, we couldn’t, because our RMN don’t have any. But that’s not our priority.

Following opposition members. Bug their phones. Disturb their works. Peep at them when they go to Starbucks. Our priority.

I would like to see ultimately, who is the one with the power to order Attorney General to charge Malaysiakini.

If you don’t let Nazri do all these, what is left for him to do ? Minister in PM Dept in-charge of Parliament ? He can’t even visit his counterparts in the world because there’s no such position in other countries.

Still, I salute his courage to sign the memorandum opposing morale policing. I support Siva, Eli, Zainah, Marina etc, so I should not ignore him too :-)

    LOL!

It’s true that he can’t even visit his counterparts in the world.

So, he has to find some other “priorities”.

If not, how to justify the pay inrease?

    Cannot be, what..

    Free publicity for malaysiakini. Cheers!
